Please tell me I'm not the only one
I went to the short game practice area at my track straight from work last night for a couple hours of practice. Got in the car and get a phone call from my dad last night saying he's noticed a set of irons for sale in the local rag. Before I could even say anything he's spoken to the chap selling them and arranged a time to go and view.
At this point he hadn't told me make, model, flex, if standard or not
Picks me up and takes me to a rather posh 4 bedroom bungalow out in the sticks about half hours drive away. A rather well spoken gentleman greets us, takes us to his "reception room" to view the clubs.
5 Minutes later I'm on the field out the back of his house (which he owns
) hitting the 6 iron and I can honestly say I've never felt anything like it. I thought the feel off my R7's was impressive, but these are just in a whole different league. Buttery soft is an understatement!
After a few minutes of bartering, we agree a price, shake and I walk away with some new irons. And my dad got a pristine Ping Anser 3 for a steal too.
Oh did I mention how good they look?
This is the 6 iron, not a mark on it, front or back!!
........ Which is the same through out the set
Just a few paint fill touch ups needed on the heads but other than that, immaculate.
He had them re gripped 2 weeks ago with Gold Pride New Decade Multi Compounds
The shafts are also Immaculate. Ture Tempur Dynamic gold R300, the same as my Fli Hi with zero scratches, pitts, dings or rust.
The only club out of the set which shows a little wear is the pitchng wedge (Strike marks on the face) but a very minor detraction from what is a pristine well looked after set.
Price: 5-PW (He did chuck in a Mizzy SW too but not part of the MP set)
£80
To me, at this price these were an absolute steal and a that price I just couldn't say no to
Anyone else had similar experience(s) with an impulse buy?
