If you're between clubs is your handicap null and void?

If I don't renew at my current club which starts it's new season from April the 1st and I don't get in anywhere new until May, does this mean I can't play in any golf competitions? I'd be due to play the next round of the Daily mail foursomes some time between mid April and May and also I'm in the Mizuno Golf Pairs (Winter 2020) which may also have a round in that period.

Thanks.

At the moment if you're not a member of a club then you don't have a handicap that's recognised by events like these.
That may change in the summer when nomads can get a handicap through England Golf but even then they might not accept them.
Once you rejoin somewhere your handicap restarts.

Thanks - I wonder if it would count if we "rejoined" our current club as a flexible member - that category of membership currently would allow us to play in monthly medals and charity days - so presumably would also keep our handicap active.

I thought in the Daily Mail Foursomes you were representing the club, if so then surely if you no longer a member you would have to withdraw.

Does seem that way - no latitude for the fact the competition started in early 2020 and has been extended by 12 months - rules is rules I guess. Will have to decide with partner if worth staying on with current club in flex capacity to continue our quest to get to the finals at Slaley Hall!

Ditto to doublebogeys comment

from the comp rules

If a competitor ceases to be a member of the Club being represented, the team must withdraw from the Tournament immediately.
