Please help us to help you.

The experts can only guess so much. Then they start arguing
Coming on and saying "I've got a slice, help " isn't going to help you much.

Now, I know not everyone has access to the high speed cameras that can show so much of a swing but I'm betting that most people have some way of recording a golf swing, whether it be and old family video camera or a mobile phone with video.
Posting a video of your swing will help tremendously.

So if you'd like us to help you, here's what I would ask you to do.

Film your swing while actually at the course/range.
Swinging away in the back garden will not be much help I'm afraid as it most often bears no resemblance to the "real course swing"

Try and get the swing filmed from 2 directions.............
One from face on with the camera positioned squarely in front of you where the red arrow is looking square on.

And the other from behind looking down the line with the camera in between the feet line and the ball line, again shown by the arrow.

Then load the video clips onto YouTube and post the links into your thread. If you don't have a YouTube account, get one, they're free.
Try and include a good space above your head so we can see the club head at the top of the backswing.
And finally, if you can try and crop the clip so that we're not watching loads or practice swings that will also help.

You may think that's a lot of hassle and you cant be bothered doing all that stuff but just remember, the more effort you put in, the more you will get out.

HTH

Nope, just trying to stop all the bickering between the experts

The ask the experts section scares me. Some of the answers in there make me wince.

All of them, I'm sure, are offered with really good intentions - it'd be better if some of them weren't shared......especially with guys who are just starting out and open to every comment.

That siad, I like reading the section to see what others think about the swing, i just wouldn't like to be trying to put some suggestions into practice ;)

Should we have some limit as to who can be classed as an "Expert"

Jeez even Just One posts in there

Fragger

Nah, absolutely not. But there is so much advice in there that it would muddle anyone's mind if they tried to follow it all.

JO's posts are easy......club face right aim left, swing up & out and over........I think????? :(

Bob, possibly the most sensible post I've read in my time on this forum!!

'Experts' off anything from scratch to 28??

Butch Harmon plays off circa 12 h/cap?
Bobmac's playing h/cap was never as low as Robobum's (for example)

If I break my neck and subsequently never walk again let alone hit a ball does that mean that suddenly I know nothing about the golf swing? Not sure why h/cap plays a part.

The forum could be re-named though, perhaps.... 'Ask your fellow golfers for some confusing advice'.

Forgive me if I am wrong but Harmon and Bob are professionally qualified are they not?

Hold on I'll pop along to the local butcher to see what's the matter with my plumbing.

I thought that the Ask the Experts section was set up to enable proper experts to comment on queries from less qualified golfers, or am I wrong?

I guess if your butcher was a fantastic plumber (but didn't want to do it for a living) then YES you might.

EDIT:

The moment the PGA bring out a teaching qualification so that you don't need to choose golf as a full time career and sell confectionary in the pro shop for 3 years then I'm in! I also don't want to know how to take green fees or re-grip clubs.

If you had to be PGA qualified to run a golf course what would you be doing right now?

(could be a case of mistaken identity there... someone on here 'manages' a club, thought it was you)
