If you lived opposite a golf course.....

If i lived next to a golf course i would be a member of it. I wouldn,t have moved there otherwise. Like others though, it is tantamount to stealing by using something you are not paying for.

Its madness to buy a house next to a golf course and not be a member there, if the club is too expensive , buy a house somewhere else.

It would like an alcoholic living next door to a pub, but having been barred, cannot use the facilities.

Id be constantly looking out of the window,

Fragger

We had an ex prem footballer who was a regular on the course very early in the mornings ( before pro shop opened) for months until some one mentioned to the pro that his name was not on the h/cap list and was then informed he had never been a member!!!!! tight fisted git hasn't been near since the pro collared him.

Or was silly money, or wouldn't have you as a member, or did not have any membership at all....

a very well known premiership footballer and tv presenter purchased a house in a very exlcusive area near us based on joining the course that was in hes back garden, he was allegedly very upset when he was told by the club their membership quota was full and there was no room in the club for him... sources advised me all sorts of replies come...

Im prepared to pay more
do you know who i am
ive just paid millions for a house just because i liked the course and the area

i found it funny as fork

Of course there is then the other side of the coin as we've seen in the thread about having to potentially change a hole because someone complained. What happens if you've got the house, joined the club and sneak out for a few holes every day but you come back and the garden is always in the firing line. Bearing in mind unlike the guy in the other post you play the game, moved to the house specifically etc but you couldn't sit in the garden for risk of being hit - what would you do

One of the most famous golfing stories, and one of the most important adminstrators in world golfover many years, would not have happened if he hadnt sneaked onto his local golf course.

Francis Ouimet as a kid used to sneak onto his local course. Came in handy when he beat the Great Triumvirate (Vardon JH Taylor and the other bloke) to win the US Open on that course. Went on to be the main driving force behind US amateur golf for many many years.

We should write to the USGA and demand that his record be expunged from all records, or alternatively make it a legal right for free access onto golf courses ;)

Name and shame then, we're curious

During the summer you can garrantee a queue at the 1st tee within 10 mins of the pro driving away but they don't do anything to stop it . I suggested any of the committee could check tickets and bag tags but was laughted at

If i was paying membership & these numb nuts were playing for free id be insisting to the committee someone did it, if you want to use private facilities you pay unless you are an invited guest , show the committee your commitment by volunteering to help checking the bag tags

What would you do if you found non members playing, if the committee have already said they're not bothered? Could you physically stop them teeing off? If there are a lot of non members playing and only you policing them, it might not be as easy as you think.
