By default then you vote for the winning candidate.
If you wish to use that logic
But there is no "default"

If I was to vote, I would like to think it would be an informed decision.
I would look into the background of the candidates and study their policies and promises.
I would examine their history in politics and their role in the recent expenses scandal.
And finally, I would like to meet the candidates and discuss what they have got planned for my future.
To be honest, I'd rather poke my eyes out with a blunt stick.
Dont vote, it only encourages them.
The right is the ability for people to have a choice
If people choose not to vote then they have exercised that right
Indeed, and forfeited any right to complain about the outcome.

thats been said a few times on this thread to LP Karen but he's choosing (his right) to ignore it![]()

Though I agree that in principle people should exercise their right to vote, I don't quite follow this logic. In reality, anyone who does not vote for either Labour or Torys will not affect the outcome, so should they be denied the right to complain as well?
Lazy language on my part, perhaps, to talk of this in terms of "rights". However, it strikes me as somewhat childish to refuse to take part in a process and then complain about the outcome.
I don't complain about the outcome
I do complain about desicions and actions that the government or MPs do but complaining about an outcome achieves nothing regardless if someone has voted or not
Never seems to come over that way in the threads here. Always seems more biased to Red tie, Guardian reading, Yogurt Knitters to me. Maybe the great unwashed are turning![]()
Splitting hairs now. By not voting against the government you contributed to their victory so give some thought to participating in democracy next time rather than griping about it.
I assume this is sarcasm my detector is failing to pick up on. This forum is seriously right wing imo.
I think it was slightly tongue in cheek and part of a bit of banter with me.. I don't think anyone in their right mind could think this forum was anything other than Right Wing..![]()
I wouldn't even be able to spot the difference between right or left in politics terms ?
q I would imagine if you weren't allowed to vote and it was a meritocracy you (and many others) would be shouting from the rooftops.

Maybe it's best you don't bother voting then......![]()
