If only I could putt . . .

What size is your putter grip?

If standard you may want to try a jumbo superstroke type, helped me no end

Tried a jumbo grip but wasn't too keen, although an intermediate might help. There are loads of excellent tips here so I'll use these on the practice green (and living room, bobmac) and see whether things improve. I'll post an update at the end of the month.

Grab a v-easy and a putting rail. If you can putt down the rail and keep the ball on it to the end then your stroke is good.

I thought I was a good putter until I went for a lesson, now I'm even better!

For what it's worth...(probably not a lot amongst this knowledgeable company).

I'm not sure being conscious of putting with a slight arc is healthy when you're over the ball. I probably have a slight arc, but focus on taking the putter head straight back and through despite this - even if what feels straight back and through actually has a slight arc - Thinking about it over the ball is only likely to emphasise that arc.

Keep it simple.

I practice
(1) distance control,
(2) improving my reads, and
(3) taking it straight back and through on the practice putting green.

But I only think about (3) on the course.

Oh, keep your head down over the wee ones!

As mentioned earlier a putting rail is great, I got a boomerang too which really helped me a lot, can set it up at home and practice for ages.

I have used a V-easy too which was good for keeping your wrists in check.

I checked-out the V-Easy video on YouTube - looks as though it could be useful for keeping everything together and in sync.

Steve, If you could learn to Putt then beat Steady in the Singles. We can play in the third round against each other and talk about our golfing woes and highlights :D

See you in the third round Simon. Although, on second thoughts, Steady plays to his 5 handicap really well!

When putting I have a golden rule that works for me.

I push rather than pull if that makes sense.

Purely psychological some might say but I find it works wonders.

The V-Easy is a great piece of kit (the inventor is a rather good sort too) and really made a difference to my stroke. Out of interest how quick are Royal Winchester's greens as we have a reciprocal with them and I'm heading down there next month
