join more than 1 club?

My membership is quite high but when looking at courses around the country to play and generally looking up some when they are mentioned on here in topics, I always look at their membership costs.

I am surprised at how low some are compared to us, especially in Scotland.

So, if memberships were lower would you join more than one club?

Are you a member of more than one club already?

How much would you spend as a total for annual membership to be split amongst clubs?

Time issues with me and a young family I struggle to justify 1 membership really other than the fact that I can play at dawn and be back home early/mid morning most weeks, so really in my case even half priced second club membership wouldn't really fit.

Yes, I would join Moor Park as my second course.

It would be nice to have some more variety, and also to always be able to get a tee time.

Wouldn't make any difference to me unfortunatley.

I have to fit my golf around my wife and 2 year old son so time really is a premium in our house.

It would be nice to have a links course as a second club, just so I could get a decent quality of golf in the winter and not have to use mats or drop in the rough.

There's a few in the NorthWest that do a winter membership, I think the cheapest is fleetwood at around £250.

Absolutely, in fact im looking at joining another on the coast just now. Don't know if i'll go east or west Scotland though, no real difference in travel for me, an hour either way.

given that most players are visitors to other clubs during a year the answer to the underlying question is obviously "yes", and the deciding factor in doing it will be opportunity costs ie how often for how much.

Join Dunbar, they are going to be building a golf academy and a 9 hole course, and a new club house soon. And its not expensive. Quality course IMO for the money.

At the moment I am thinking of joining Dunning (9 holes) next year for a quick 9 holes when I have not enough time to play a full round at Alyth. It is less than £200,I think that is decent value.

My club, Blairgowrie, has three courses (2 Championship and one 9 holes) and we also have reciprocal arrangements with two links courses, (Crail and Lossiemouth) so ther isn't much point really.

You can go off people very quickly Clive!

I'm not sure if i could be bothered with all the faff of ensuring AWAY scores reach my home club, week in, week out.
there isnt any faff if both clubs use the central handicap database - you just play and their computers do all the hard work

to answer the question - i'd join loads!!

Not many locally I'd want to join. If you look at the bigger ones then I couldn't afford it anyway. The only club I'd love to join given a chance would be the Berkshire but unless 6 numbers come up it'll stay a pipe dream

I've noticed some clubs have "distance" memberships that are lower the further they live away!
