Guys,

I'm knocking up a spreadsheet at the moment that I'm going to use to track my golf round, calculate stableford points, handicap reductions etc, and added to this I was going to add a stats worksheet.

Anyone got any ideas as to what sort of stats you would like to see that would pertain to your rounds of golf over a period of time?

Stuff like high\low\average gross score, high\low\average net score, high\low\average stableford points, your best hole, worst hole etc?

Cheers

I used to keep a record and included the score on each hole, fairways hit, greens in regulation, putts, putts per green in regulation, number of birdies/par/bogey etc and exact handicap.

Over time I could work out average per hole, birdies per round, track changes from season to season etc etc. I found out stuff like I struggle at our 1st, 6th, 7th but I could have guessed that as they are the hardest holes on the course.

After several years I decided it hadn't told be very much and doesn't justify the work involved so now don't bother. Spend the time practising your short game would be my advice.

Figure out where your strengths are and weaknesses so go for fairways hit GIR and how often you get up and down around the greens and putts per round. That way after 6 months you know what areas you really need to work on
For me its easy - all of em !

don't add putts per hole, it upsets me even looking at the pencil marks on my card, if it was on a computer i could see myself punching the screen :o

Redwood,

I did one to challenge my Excel skills as much as anything. I track things like average score per hole, average front middle and back six, front and back 9, my personal SI vs course SI, eclectic. It's also has conditional formatting so I can see easily where my easy and hard holes are. It does show me which holes I need to focus on and has caused me to alter strategy on a few. Also track average birdies, pars etc per round. That shows conclusively that it's not more birdies I need but less doubles.

I know it's all available on other software, but I can tweak this as often as I like and hey, it's my time!
