ICC World Cup - would you back England?

No chance , Australia all day long , India have a good side but will they turn up , they always do in india but not so elsewhere
Is that the good side that have just beaten twice by England in Australia. The side that haven't won a single match on their tour of Australia. Wickets a lot quicker and bouncier in Australia. I think it will be between Australia and South Africa, with New Zealand the dark horses.

Can someone answer me a simple question that I just can't seem to find an answer for

Why does Ravi Bopara keep getting picked for England ?

How has someone who regular fails to perform manage to play 110 ODI's ?

Cos he's a bits and pieces player, the sort of player that England has included for the last couple of generations under the impression that they are the way forward. Now there is talk of Bresnan possibly being called up to the squad. Two steps forward in binning Cook, two steps back if they pick Bresnan.

But Bresnan has actually performed on the international stage for England - very good bowler

Having look at the stats , England , New Zealand and South Africa have never won this trophy with Australia having been in the finals 6 times winning 4 , England have been in 3 and losing the lot so I say Australia Vs England Final with England winning , get in there

So what about India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan? 4 victories between them and other appearances in the final.

As for South Africa, it is worth noting that they didnt play in the first 4 comps so they've had less chances.

Can't see past Australia at all. England showing some form against the Indians who looked poor in the last game but we're not consistent enough. South Africa could be a threat and New Zealand dark horses. Should be some cracking games though

Cant see past them at all but you'll then list a threat and a dark horse just in case lol

South Africa are the strongest team by a big margin imo BUT they always seem to mess it up - if they play to their ability they will walk it

Australia are always a threat - as are Sri Lanka

Think England will surprise a few

Can't see past Australia with home support with SA arguably the best one day side at the moment and NZ enjoying some fine form. Never listed them all and certainly wouldn't give England or the Indians a chance. Clear for you now?

I think that it's the most wide open world cup since I've been watching them (92). There is no clear standout, unlike the previous few which were all Australia, and then India in the most recent. At a guess, I think that NZ and Australia will both make the semis, and at least one will make the final. NZ is long overdue to get past the semis and have the most balanced side I've seen, with very few weaknesses (although it would have been nice to have Jesse Ryder there). However, despite how wide open it is, England would be one of the last sides I'd back, purely because they look to be the weakest of the top 6 sides at the moment.

clear as mud that you cant see past the favs winning it yet still hedge your bets with the second and third favs just in case. be careful you dont get too many splinters......

Real real shame Jesse not going to be there, especially as the Kiwis look 1 if not 2 batters short to me. Seem to be overly reliant on BMac of late, albeit he is a serious purple patch of form. Williamsons return will at least take some of the pressure off but they need Taylor and Guptil to come to the party a lot more than they have of late

Yep. The only saving grace on that front is the decent middle-lower order (Anderson/Ronchi and also Elliott/Vettori assuming that they can still bat like they used to). Guptill is fragile at best and probably the main worry if he continues to get picked and give up an early wicket.

Adam Gilchrist
Sachin Tendulkar
Ricky Ponting
Sir Viv Richards
Jacques Kallis
MS Dhoni
Imran Khan
Wasim Akram
Joel Garner
Muttiah Muralitharan
Glenn McGrath

What a team. Tough to miss out Bevan in an all-time team, but reckon Dhoni is the slightly better finisher.
