Yesterday I played at an away course and went into 5 or 6 bunkers. I'm normally iffy out of them, either good or I leave the ball in them.

However, most of the bunkers seemed to have swarms of wasps nesting in them and my new method evolved. I took placed the rake handily near my ball, took my grip moved in speedily, no thinking time, quick swing, grab rake, quick clean up and make a dash for it. Out first time every time!

I might even do a Crossfield type video.

Commentator's Curse of course means that the next time you try it you'll get stuck in a bunker and get stung into the bargain :)

Are you sure that they weren't miner bees. We get them every year at about this time. They make small holes in the bunker faces. As far as I am aware they are harmless.

I suspect they were bees - we played a match at Purley Downs yesterday and there were large notices about bees in bunkers posted.

We have them too. Went into a bunker on our 17th and there were squillions of the pesky varmints all a-buzzing and a-swarming around.

Like Chris I too didn't hang about and played one of the best bunker shots I've ever played, just lipping the hole from 30 yards and leaving a 3 foot putt which I then holed for my par.

Thinking of getting a jam jar full, training them like racing pigeons and unleashing them anytime I land in a trap in future.:D 🐝🐝

Great original post as well Chris :D I currently follow Harvey Pennick's bunker method...

...don't go in them! ;) Mainly inspired because ours have very little sand in them :o
