For months I have been plagued with a dreadful slice with my Driver & 3 wood, I have tried everything to cure it.

Checking my swing
Ball position
Shoulder turn
Hip movement
Grip
Tee height
Club angle at impact
Body position at impact

It never really dawned on me that it could be my alignment, but that's what it turned out to be, my body / shoulder alignment was way to the left & I was open at impact & cutting across the ball, putting a huge clockwise spin on it.

Everything today, apart from a couple of pulls at the end of the round was straight / true & long enough to make me very happy.
Treating myself to a beer now.
Cheers.

You need to make sure you check the basics regularly. I always use an alignment stick to make sure everything is lined up properly. If the set up is sound then any problems are an inherent swing issue but should be easier to spot

be careful what you wish for. i used to hit lovely fading irons into greens and longed to hit draws. got a dose of the shermans and my swing turned into a drawing one. now i only play a cut when i really really have to and even then im **** scared of hitting the sherman.

congratulations, working on it for months you so, oh no thats like.... NOTHING!!! Took me years!!

Turns out mine was me slinging my right shoulder at the ball. I can still do it when I get lazy or quick.

Best of luck, a big part of the cure as you say it being brave enough to start the ball to the right.

id agree with that. i had a habitual fader of the ball and told him to aim right and taught him how to properly release the club and he started hitting straight and some with a slight draw. he was amazed. he also laughed when i first said. FIRST THING I WANT YOU TO DO IS AIM OVER THERE! pointing to the right rough. lol

I am of the firm opinion that those who fade/slice and dont want to are being defensive. They so dont want the ball to go right that the very last thing they are prepared to do is start the ball right feeling safer having the ball cross there body. I believe this mentally makes them feel that they have given the ball more space for the inevitable move to the right.

clearly this is defensive and one needs to be a little brave in practice to remove this thought.

Great news CB. I would be having a beer as well.

I can see a marketing opportunity in there somewhere - 'cure your slice in less than a month - it worked for me'. Do some video shoots and get it on You Tube!!
