Last week I played clitheroe in their 'major' singles open of the year, shot a 41 on the from nine (+6 off 19/max18 handicap) with nothing more than a 5! Proceeded to shoot 49 on tr back nine with 2x7 and an 8 on the last par5! Ended with nett 72 and 67 won!
Now I said to myself that if I get into a similler position I'd learn and play sensibly.
Anyway yesturday played in the Blackburn salver another 'major' singles open. Never plate there before and shot 43 on the front nine and the back nine was going well up to the 17th when I found myself behind a tree. Rather than chip out sideways and take at most a six which would have left me with a nett 67 I went for the big shot over the tree. Ball hits tree goes in pond, second shot the same, then into a bunker and so on, ended up with an '11!' well annoyed with myself. Anyway the lesson is learned, 'take my medicine' and still come off with a contending score!
