I Am Turning Into Donald Trump

Scotland could easily sustain itself with hydro electric power and wave power.

Completely anti wind farm myself, the subsidies these companies get for building them are huge, they are inefficient and a bloody eyesore. The carbon footprint of building them is greater than what they produce. To windy and they wont work,no wind they wont work.Nuclear is the obvious way forward as I can't recall the last time we had a tsunami here in the uk or a huge earthquake.
BTW I'd love to hear how your going to store electricity, giant capacitor complexes?
Where I grew up in NE scotland had pleasant rolling hills, mostly farmland but pleasant on the eye, I went up there at christmas for the first time in years and was appalled at the amount of these turbines, absolutely shocking on the eye and the odd one here and there which would not produce enough power to light a good fart.
Anyway rant over.

One of the crazy planning aspects of the OP is that Straiton is a conversation village. My friend would be refused permission to put solar panels on his roof but the planners would allow a 140 metre tall wind Turbine a few hundred metres from his house.

Don't get me started on South Ayrshire Planners
:ooo:

I would like to point out that Straiton is a Conservation village, it may well also be a conversation village for all I know..DOHH.

From a planning and joined up thinking point of view it is also worth pointing out that the Dark Sky Observatory is situated about 6 miles from Straiton near Dalmellington. The only one in Europe and one of only ten in the world. Proudly opened by Sir Soapy a few months ago.
