My question is im going to buy an MD Seve Icon Hybrid as its in my budget and as i play a stiff shafted driver and 5 Wood and my Irons are True temper shafted WilsonStaff Di7's should i be buying a stiff or regular shafted hybrid

What type of shaft - brand not flex, are in your woods and irons?.

Stiff in one brand could be the same flex as regular in another, so you need to know the brand of shafts as well as flex.

Hi Ethan
Iv got a fujikura quadra action stiff in my MacGregor NVG2 driver and iv got a Grafalloy Nanotech stiff in my Wilson FWC 5Wood

My Irons are Wilsonstaff Di7's with Truetemper TX105 FS Uniflex steel shafts.....Couldnt tell you how good they are i bought them straight off the shelf as im 5' 10" tall and they seem to do the job for me so far.

Hi kid

I looked at the MD website and the Seve hybrid comes with a UST V2 shaft. That is a pretty good shaft, better than most standard fit shafts, and it is also fairly firm, so whether you would go for stiff in it or not is a question. The shafts in your clubs are not terribly stiff. The TX is a shaft made for Wilson, and is similar to a DG SL, and the Quadra is fairly soft too, so the UST will be firm by comparison. I couldn't see what weight the UST was, but if it was heavy, say 85g or more, I would look at a R flex.

Other than that, if the MD takes your eye, it is a good club for the money. Will the pro tape one up and let you have a bash?

Ya Ethan the MD gear is really winning me over and our pro would happily let me take the clubs out for a test drive....
As you said above that the quadra is in fact soft in comparison to others how do you know a proper stiff chaft when you see one?
Is there anything in particular that makes them stand out fron the rest.
I also got my swing speed measured again today as i have got a better tempo since my last check of it and im averaging 106mph with a comfortable swing...
Not snapping at the ball like i used to.
Im presuming that at this speed i need a stiff shaft.

106 is a pretty good swing speed, about as fast as some of the shorter hitters on Tour. At that speed you probably would need a Stiff UST V2. I assumed you would start with R based on the other shafts, compared to which a R V2 is similar. The V2 feels a little dull, but should give a mid launch and a flattish penetrating flight.

You were spot on Ethan i bought the MD Seve Icon today in 24deg R.
I hit it in regular this morning in a round with the proforce V2 shaft and it felt pretty ok.
Got a nice flight and its easier to hit than my 4 iron im hitting it around 180-190 metres.
It really only cost me 29€ as i won 80€ in a comp 2 weeks ago and my pro gave me 20€ off as well so all in all im well chuffed...... :D ;)
