Q-School Graduate
I played huntercombe gc. On thursday evening and as a visitor its £32 after 5pm weekdays.
I would have to say that it was worth every penny!
Tbh I havent played that many "top" courses but this course is the best I have played yet.
Its a course where you really have to think on every shot and not just smash a driver on most holes! The short game also needs to be sharp as there are lots of tricky run-offs that take a well hit shot off the green and the greens are very fast!
The course was in fantastic condition, especually given the lack of rain!
The pro and assistant were top fellas and made us feel really welcome at a club which has a reputation of being very stuck up!
The course has a lot of history and tradition and although it sounds daft I kind of felt that and gave the course a lot of respect tactics wise.
Its a 2ball course, 3ball on request, and we finishd the round in 31/2 hours and felt like we had the course to ourselves although there was a few people out there..
We had a grear tightly fought match and a fair few of the holes were ideal for risk/reward type scenarios. I won the match on the 18th which probably makes my opinions biased
....but it is a seriously good course in my opinion and well worth a visit fir 32 quid!
