HS2

Are you too frightened to put a link in?

Because a quick google indicates this is NOT HS2 COST!

No, just embarrassed as it was the BBC's Andrew Neil, he has been known to be wrong on a few occasions.
Quoting the Governments 'head of Infrastructure' [that sounds a bit WA1ish]

And he's wrong/obscenely misleading on this occasion too!

You're are a fool if you take his tweets as gospel!

Absolute bargain at whatever the cost. If it means I can get to Birmingham quicker and earn a lot more money, great news. That means me and the family can spend money on more goods, other people can earn money.

So how much is it going to cost?
HS2 was £10 million over budget within a few months of coming into existence and before they'd actually done anything physical.
They won't be agreeing the final target price until next year.....
Conservative ( with a small "c") estimates are £50 billion excluding rolling stock....
I can't see it costing less than £75 billion

The man with his ear to the ground and his finger on the pulse.

Great call, HS2. Spend billions duplicating the most modern and highest capacity existing line in the country while it still takes the same time as the Victorian era to travel on 3 car units between our major Northern cities.....

They are building a train line north of Watford? What's the point in that? Total waste of money if you ask me ;)

It's no longer [if it was in the first place] about providing 'infrastructure'...

It's become an opportunity, for HMG, to send a message to EU businesses... Asking if they'll be happy for Brussels to be railroading them out of good earning opportunities...

25% of HS2 workers earning over £100,000.00 pa.

Nice work if you can get it.

If you are a skilled worker why not?
Supply and demand...

Spuds [reportedly] had to double the money being offered by Crossrail/HS2 to ensure completion of their new gaff...
Kinda indicates the lack of investment, in training, by service providers/government...

As long as the other 75% aren't on minimum wage...

The biggest cost to HS2 won't be its wage bill...

It'll be how much they'll be paying to the already wealthy [with clout] for crossing their land...

The losers will be regular folk [with no clout]... Like the farmer just up the road from me...
The amount they are offering, for his farm/business/life's work, will just about buy him a semi here...
