Teed it up on the 16th today and couldn't help but notice just how raggy the tee box looked.
We were off the whites so it was a comp only tee box. I suppose the wet weather didn't help matters much but it certainly looked like it was in need of a bit of TLC.
The course itself is still in good fettle even if very wet during today's comp but just happened to notice the tired looking tee areas.

How's your course looking for the time of year?

Played this afternoon and was thinking how good the course was looking. They did a bit of work on the greens a couple of weeks ago and now it's paying off now. It really is in tip top condition. I am playing at Sand Moor tomorrow so it will be good to see how it compares.

I don't have a home club as such but on Wednesday I played at Epping golf course and the greens were really fast and in great shape.

Unfortunately I couldn't make the most of the course because I haven't played it before and struggled to gauge the distances required for best ball position into the green. But I enjoyed the course and will definitely go there again.

Ducking below parapet, I have to say it is bob-on.

36 holes helps and with a strong snr section who tend not to hit down through the ball too much from the fairway nor land a wedge from 100 ft in the air into greens means limited stress spread over two tracks, add this to much hard graft from greens team and great track is a result.

Seems as good a platform as any to give open invite to anyone who wants to join me for a round, pop me a PM.

If your course is not looking good at the moment after the weather we have had over the last few months, then sorry, you need to consider another course. Perfect growing weather and a greenkeepers heaven.

Our course is looking great at the moment. Greens had work 3 weeks ago but now they are perfect. The fairways are fluffy thanks to the much needed rain. It's a pleasure to play at the moment.

Greens Maintenance next week - and by gum do some of them need it.
Not all by any means but a few are not good
Although still playable, the course is showing signs of lack of investment due to the shadow of HS2..
April could be a time to move on......
Research has commenced!

A couple of tees looking a bit tired. Fairways brilliant. A bit of Fusarium on a few greens, but its responding to treatment. Greens had maint a couple of weeks back, and are coming along nicely.

I hope the greenkeepers will be working 24/7 over the coming weeks to get the course in perfect condition for the biggest event of the year in 2 weeks. :)

Our place was tip top yesterday - greens were tined last week but we only need to to 'fork' tining and not core tining - and with weather perfect as it is putting was not really affected at all.

We held our inaugural prom am on Friday so the course was in great nick when we played yesterday. Greens as good as I remember them in terms of pace running smooth. There is always stuff that could be/look better but I'm very happy with it at the moment

Ours was in exceptional nick, until last Tuesday.

Over the last few winters the club has been digging up greens, adding additional drainage and better quality grass.

The greens they have done up to yet have been exceptional this year, very true and constant pace.

This year they've begun the work early, last Tuesday

Rolled up for 9 holes after work last week to find 4 of the greens have been completely lifted.

Played yesterday so decided to have a mooch at how they are getting on..

They've dug down a good 3 if not more feet and the amount of piping that has been added is staggering.

They've also changed the shape and camber of the greens which will make them a challenge for sure once they are open.

My only gripe is that for the foreseeable future, we will be on temps for these greens. With the club being a 9-over-9 layout, it will mean 8 of the 18 will be on temps.

That's put paid to my qualifiying season so I've booked in with my pro to start my winter work early.

Played Oak Park near Farnham yesterday afternoon and the place looked great the greens looked superb from afar, but once on them the grass was pretty dense and so slow, pretty much aside from a troubled course I played on in Portugal in May without doubt the slowest greens I have played on all year, I guess the action taken to counteract the very warn dry spell in July worked a bit too well........................... Volcano cones round a few holes too are another matter completely.

I never moan on the golf course (apart from at myself) as I know the limits of my ability.

Remarkably good, considering the greens have been gradened. Same can't be said for Royal Dornoch, played in a 36 holer yesterday and the greens were the slowest i've played on this year.
