Ours was in exceptional nick, until last Tuesday.

Over the last few winters the club has been digging up greens, adding additional drainage and better quality grass.

The greens they have done up to yet have been exceptional this year, very true and constant pace.

This year they've begun the work early, last Tuesday

Rolled up for 9 holes after work last week to find 4 of the greens have been completely lifted.

Played yesterday so decided to have a mooch at how they are getting on..

They've dug down a good 3 if not more feet and the amount of piping that has been added is staggering.

They've also changed the shape and camber of the greens which will make them a challenge for sure once they are open.

My only gripe is that for the foreseeable future, we will be on temps for these greens. With the club being a 9-over-9 layout, it will mean 8 of the 18 will be on temps.

That's put paid to my qualifiying season so I've booked in with my pro to start my winter work early.

I think there would be uproar from the members at most clubs if they did that in the 1st week of September. I certainly wouldn't be happy!

Totally agree. There have been more than a few murmurings around the club house.

I'm yet to have chance to speak to any of the committee to hear the reasoning behind the timing.

If the greens are as good as the ones laid last year, it will be well worth the inconvenience.

Mine has been in fantastic condition this year, I'll go as far as to say prob the best I've ever seen it. Our new head green keeper has do e some small subtle changes, like more definition of the fairways and taking done some of the deep jungle areas. The greens are fast but true. Long may it continue.

Our gaff is looking a little bit more tired than a few months ago, but it is still in cracking condition.

Greens are running true and are still very quick (especially the frightening down hill putt on our 17th )

Fairways are lush like carpets and only a couple of tee boxes look tatty. Though it has to be said these are generally the ones surrounded by trees.

Only my first year here so hard to compare to years gone bye, saying that though i am very happy.

Ours is looking great (Brickenden Grange in Herts)

All the trimmings are well kept and tidy. Fairways good and greens fantastic - fast and true.

It's been like that all summer apart from the odd bit of green maintenance which has healed pretty swiftly.

My impression is that in this part of the SE, weather conditions since the monsoon early in the year have been pretty ideal for course maintenance. It's been mostly warm and pleasant with the odd burst of wet weather to keep everything healthy.

Played yesterday evening and the weather and course were so perfect it brought a tear to the eye !

My course has been in pretty good nick all season and seems to be getting better. The greens have been tined, top dressed and other work done to them and they seem to be getting better.

Can fault the condition of it at any point really.

Have been playing at West London Golf Centre which has been fantastic, tee boxes clean and tidy I couldn't find any broken tees or anything on Saturday. The greens have been great too with very few pitch marks and were lovely to putt on. The fairways are good and has had the rough cut back a bit from them to make it a bit more fair.

Wish they'd teach our members how to repair them. It still remains a huge issue at my club. Repaired five on one par three alone

Outstanding at the moment, both courses are in great condition with the greens being the best I have ever seen them.

Club is gearing up for the Junior Ryder Cup in two weeks time and the changes they have made have only enhanced the courses.
I will be out volunteering on the match days Mon-Tuesday 22nd and 23rd and look forward to seeing these talented kids close up

I have just been offered a place marshaling in the grandstands for the main event but will have to work hard to convince the boss to give me the time off, which may be difficult given we are the main transport provider and I'll be stuck at Perth or Gleneagles station for the whole event.

Another local course to me (Ruislip Golf Course) was terrible for pitch marks last week, I would repair 3/4 each hole. I don't get why others don't? If I can see them surely others can to?

Rubbish, the course hasnt been right all year the only way I can describe the course is scruffy. Our 2nd and 11th greens have bare mud patches on them, I wouldnt invite anyone to play a round there at the moment.
