How's your course looking?

Yeh, Allen park in Antrim opened and only one temp green.

God it felt good after 4 weeks off,

Just no water to have a wash with after!! :D

Been lucky enough so far that I've not had no shortages. But now that that you've mentioned it it's bound to get switched off.

I'm glad for you, sounds like an absolute nightmare over there.

Last week it was white. Today it is green. It is open today on temporary greens and mats, but with the drainage here (poor - Essex clay), by the weekend it will be brown.

That's assuming we can see it through the fog.

Finally opened today with temp greens, very water logged, a couple of tee boxes especially the sixth should not of been used will be a mess come the summer! Hooray for finally playing some golf!

I'm due to play 9 holes this morning, if open. It will be the 1st time I've hit a ball in 4 weeks, thats a long time for me. So fingers crossed it remains open.

Just got back from my attempt at playing.

I hurt my hand about 3 weeks ago and thought it would be ok by now but no such luck. Picked up halfway down the 4th and walked in. Also cancelled my other tee times between now and back to work time. :(

As for the course, it's very very wet. No trolley ban means it's churning up quite bad, and the greens are so wet that balls are plugging.

If it wasn't pay and play it might still be closed.

Went down to the pro shop yesterday to ask if the shafts he put in my irons are 1/2" inch longer than standard and the course was getting there, starting to look a lot greener. Inspection 2mora and hopefully it'll be open for the weekend.

Oh and yea, the shafts were half and inch long and when you're 5 foot 9 its not ideal haha!! Thankfully I am regripping them and can chop them down.

Well, just back from a round at my club. Temp greens & mats, but it's like playing on concrete as the whole course is still frozen!

On the plus side, I got a fantasticly long drive on the fourth as the ball just kept on going... :D

RobC.

Been out today, fairways ok but all holes on temp greens. Still, better than nothing. Hopefully will dry out enough for full greens by the weekend.

Woooo hoooo!! After spending most of the morning ringing round courses i've found 2 that are open now and are deffintley open tomorrow.

First one was hartlepool golf course which i was told abruptly over the phone by a gentleman in the pro shop that " yes our course is open but only for our members until the 4th january"

Then after ringing around a few other courses found that seaham course is open which i've never played, so up at the crack of dawn to get up there for just before 9am as thats when the pro shop opens and it's first come first served so it could be on the busy side.

It's like christmas has come arounf again for me i'm that excited! :D

We are opening tomorrow on temps. Our 4th hole is played down a valley which is absolutely flooded at the moment, you need a rubber ring to get to the 5th tee!!!

Our place does drain very quickly so if the thaw continues it will be fully open for the weekend.

Course was fully open yesterday with no temps, no mats and trolleys allowed. I played 18 and it was in v.good nick considering the snow. Greens look to have appreciated the rest!
Went down today and played a few holes and back tomorrow for 18.
Good to be back!

Course now fully open. The greens are now black, but i assume it is some sort of fertilizer, rather then snow damage. Not sure what the forecast for tomorrow is, but might sneak in a few holes.

Played our course this morning for the 1st time in 8 weeks and i was very surprised at its condition given the past 2 months weather....
It was soggy enough in places at the end of october....
Today fairways were very good with the ball picking up small bits of mud after impact....Very little plugging only if you ventured well off the fairways....

Greens in fairness to them were fair....Hairy as one would expect and soft under foot but completely no surface water on them...

There is alot of work going on for the coming season also so im really looking forward to the coming year....

Oh and i finished my round with 37 points  :D :D :D

Complete bog. Could do with spiked wellies. Only one hole out of action - the par 3 16th which is well below the water table. Fortunately, the course actually has a spare par 3 to cater for this so a full 18 holes is still possible.

this is how my course looked last week

was still closed this morning but hopeful of getting out at the weekend

Why was it closed?? That just looks like frost, if that's as bad as it's been then you've been lucky!!
