How would you like your 18th?

Birdie opportunity for the good players, nett birdie for the likes of me - ie easy hole :D

Gives you a risk / reward type hole for finishing off a round - more drama at the end and a real chance to make a difference in a matchplay or comp.

Exactly like ours is, a fair test.

300ish yards, par 4, well bunkered fairway, well bunkered green, oob long, trees left and right of the fairway. The last two times I've played it i've made a 6 and a 3, so it rewards good shots and punishes poor ones.

Keep it as it is, a risk/reward dog leg par 5.

Get a good drive away, and it is reachable in two (although with a back left pin, par can still be a good score), get a mediocre drive away, bogey is a good score, muff up the drive, and you can get a 9 very easily.

Stroke index 6, so no push over.

St Pierre's 18th is fantastic! Although a par 3 it is over 200 yards and over water with a well bunkered green.

Ours is a short par 4 (Drivable with wind behind), OOB left and long and a few bunkers up the left. Think I prefer St. Pierre's!!

Never liked a Par 3 to finish - albeit it gives something to keep you interested until the end if you are in the 2's club.

Give me a Par 5 where there is adequate risk and reward - I loved the 18th at Wentworth West pre the recent changes. Fantastic finishing hole.

I like the 18th at the Forest of Arden, very intimidating 200+ yard par 3 over water. Sorts the men out from the boys!
aaaaaaaagh .. Playing there on the 13th oct , sounds a tough finisher , i think risk & reward is a good finishing hole ,2 great shots get you your eagle putt, 2 good ones sets up a chip for a birdie chance, but very bogeyable or worse also

I'd probably like ours a bit tougher.

It's SI18, although it's definitely not the easiest hole on the course.

360y Par4, Straight with OOB down the right, although it's up a bank so you have to hit a shocker to go out. One fairway bunker up the right at about 200 yards to catch any wayward teeshots. Only a few small trees. No real rough to speak of.

It has a long green, so three putts are easily possible, has bunkers left, right and at the back.

It usually plays into the wind and if they stick the flag at the back it probably plays more like 400-430. Wind behind, which is rare, and the green is drivable.

I'd probably like a bit more trouble up the left as you can just bail out over there and take OOB and the bunker out of play and still get a good line into the green anyway.

I'd keep mine the way it is. Par 5, certainly birdyable but OB all the way down the right, copses of trees to the left. A perfect driver off the tee will give a ball below the feet lie for your second any thing less than perfect a blind shot over a mound and longish 3rd... All in all a good finish!

Ours is a nice long par 5, up hill and usually into the wind. Ditch at around 280-290 yards, and very slight dogleg left with a green protected well by bunkers.

Not my favourite hole, I have to say, but I wouldn't change it.

I do love the par 3 18th at St. Pierre though! over 200 yards and far from being an easy hole!

Ours is an uphill 168 yd par 3 over a ditch with a slopping mackenzie green from back to front so if your above the pin in summer your in big trouble trying to keep the ball on the green! It can be anything from a 7 iron to a 3 rescue dependant on the wind direction and can be a real card wrecker :(

Ours is the perfect finishing hole. A short, reachable par 5. You have to take a decision on your tee shot. Take the direct route, the short narrow left fairway, or the long route to the right where reaching the green in two is almost impossible. If you go for the green you'd better get it right because on the right of the green there is a lake and on the left deep bunkers. Long isn't good either because that leaves you with a difficult chip back from the rough onto a raised green that falls from back to front.

Ours is a par 4 about 400 yards or so needing a decent drive to get over the covered walkway then leaving a tough shot to the green that is all carry as there is a stream running in front of it. Decent enough par chance if you get a good drive away but easy to make six, even from the middle of the fairway.
