How to pick a wedge

The weight in a decent wedge like a Vokey helps to keep the swing smooth and keep the clubhead accelerating through the ball.

Wierd that... I find Vokeys too light and don't get on with them at all.

Are they ACTUALLY heavier than other wedges?

Bingo. I find my Vokey the lightest of my wedges - reason no.3 for not hitting full shots with it.

It must all be in the swing weight surely.

Actually, b****** to all this. I'm going to weigh them over the weekend.

99p says the Vokey is the lightest.

The high bounce ones will weigh a good bit more than the low bounce versions I'd have thought as there's more metal on a high bounce clubhead.

On the vokeys website the low bounce 48 deg model is a D2 swingweight and the 58 high bounce model is a D5 swingweight so will feel heavier to swing.

Traditional sandwedges always had a high bounce and a thick rounded sole -- I remember my old Ram Tour Grinds from the late 80's, the sandwedge could only be lifted with 2 hands! ;)
