How "Precise" do you have to be to do this....

Well after yet another small change to my posture and armed with that i played a stableford this morning....Turning with 16 points iv had better days but the quality of strike i was getting was really good and i was taking 1 club less than normal too which is always a good thing i suppose....

But...............Here is the funny bit.....Stood on our 11th the tee box is about 60mtrs long with a big overhanging tree towards the end of it....
Its a par 4 dogleg right which was playing about 350mtrs this morning.....So i teed up on the left to give me room and hit my 3 wood as i always do.....
I had left my carry bag just off the right hand side of the fairway and used it as a target to aim over.(A dangerous line cutting the dogleg and playing chicken with the tree) but if i pulled it off i was no more than a flick of a short iron in................

Well i let fly clipped the tree just cleared the cabbage at the end of the tee box to find a decent lie.....With at least 230 to go and my bag about 100 mtrs away i decided to hit the 3 wood again....

Here is the clinical bit......I dont know how i managed it but i swiped at it so hard that i shaved the top of the ball and it jumped straight up head high in front of me....I was so precise that if i tried to do it i wouldnt have been able to.....It was like it happened in slo-mo....

I could nearly have hit it again before it reached the ground.....
Cue shot no 3 which was another topper that left me with 165 mtrs to a front pin and still figuring out why the hell i was after topping 2 in a row....

Shot no.4 in pure temper was a 5 iron dead straight to 4ft and I walked off with a bogie and 2 points..

Lol did a similar thing a few weeks ago on our par 5 15th. Great drive down the middle, great 8i down middle again to just infront of ditch. I'm now 160 yards from green. Pull 5i and topped it so much that it popped up behind my right shoulder as I was in full follow through position! 5i again straight onto green! 2putted for bogey!

A bit like this, but higher?

There is a bonus lesson thrown in there too. Take notes ;)

.....I was scratching my head in astonishment after walking off with a bogie.

Par 5.....

I skied a drive then hit 3-wood recovery that ended up hanging over the hole (defying gravity) for a tap-in eagle,........... closest I've ever come to an albatross.

I did the pop the ball up in the air in front of me trick on Sunday too. I didn't make a bogie. What's the term for 6 over on a hole?

Then on the next I duffed my drive into the rubbish infront of the tee, never to be seen again. My 3rd then went straight up the middle, I put it to 3 feet with a sand wedge and holed the putt for a bogie.

Stupid effing game.

"I had left my carry bag just off the right hand side of the fairway and used it as a target to aim over."

which makes your 5 into a 7........and no points.

shame after all that work.

I hooked my drive on our 6th up a bank to the other side of the 10th fairway.
I hit a 5 Hybrid over the trees straight into the 6th greenside bunker.
Chip out of the bunker & tapped in a short putt for par.

I hit a 5 wood into the ground at about 40 degrees and it shot back about 4 feet in the March medal. Funny thing was both my playing partners were staring down the fairway looking for it for ages by which time the laughter finally escaped me and they looked round to see me pointing at my ball. The image of them both intently looking for my ball will remain with me forever.
