How often do you clean your clubs?

Give them a quick wipe after each shot. Maybe clean the grooves with a tee pag before a par 3 tee shot and that's about it. My car gets a wash every couple of months or so too whether it needs it or not. It still seems to perform OK...just like the clubs.

I could have written this.

Although I once went 3 years without cleaning my car, or having a hair cut. I'm a slob, I guess.

I don't wash my car at all, it gets cleaned once a year when it goes in for a service and it works fine whether it's clean or not.

If I was driving in the wet with the tyre tread filled in with something that wouldn't shift I wouldn't expect to have much control though.

I clean mine virtually after every round I play, always like my clubs to be clean when using - it makes no difference to my golf though other than my personal preference

I give mine a quick wipe after every shot, and sometimes pick dirt out of the grooves with a tee peg, but very rarely give them a thorough clean. My bag and clubs stay in a caddy box at the club, so I normally stuff them away directly after the round, cos I am eager to get to the 19th to sit down and have a coffee, and then, when I come back, I just grab them and get out, cos I am eager to play. The only time I clean them is when I take them home with me before I go on holidays or when I change from my cart bag to my winter bag.

Wipe them after a shot then the guys at the Player Service will give them another wipe at the end of the round and then proper clean with soap/brush etc after every round

Getting the mud & grass stains off is the main thing but also its really easy for things like sunscreen, sweat etc to get onto the shafts then the grips and while I’ve no idea if that kind of stuff has any adverse effect on rubber it’s better to remove it just for gripyness

Wipe them after every shot and use one of those little cleaning brushes if they get soil in the groves.

Full wash every few weeks unless they get soaked. Mine tend to rust up if they are left wet and in the iron covers so will give them a wash and wipe before drying them out.

Pretty much never but I have a towel on my bag to give them a wipe if required. I sometimes wipe a club on the grass before a shot if it is noticeably mucky.

That said, if one of my children want some cash and offer to do jobs to earn it, then cleaning the old man's golf clubs is one that crops up from time to time. :)

I have never really understood why people are fastidious about golf equipment. As long is the face is relatively clear, I don't think pristine cleanliness makes much difference to the shot.

For me I make enough bad shots purely down to my own faults without adding the possible effect of dirt/grass/sand/slippy grips etc into the equation (and I quite enjoy doing the clubs & shoes after a round anyway)

Probably every couple of weeks during the season to remove built up garbage in the grooves and to ensure the grips are right. My hands are a bit knackered and don't grip as well as I would like so clean, tacky grips are most helpful.

I too employ child labour occasionally to do the job to help out Jr's coffers - he did them just to help me out the other day though  as I was repairing Mum's bike. That's not a euphemism btw :D

Rarely. If they're starting to look a bit grim they'll get a clean, or if I've got a big comp or holiday coming up I'll clean them, if not, a simple wipe with the towel after each shot does the job enough for me.

Having played a round with Rudebhoy today I can say categorically that the state of cleanness of his clubs had no bearing on the way he played, unless they were so clean that the ball kept slipping off in the wrong direction! Perhaps my clubs were too clean too, might explain my 11 over for the first 9.

I cleaned them last night, that's where I went wrong!

I noticed you played a lot better on the back 9 once you had a bit of mud on yours as well.

A quick wipe across the erse of my trews after the shot, then into the bag. And may have a pick at the grooves if waiting to play a shot - but not often. But this washing of the car of which I hear - what's that all about? I once had a tree growing out of the wheel arch - had to cut it down eventually which was a shame,
.
