And does it make a difference to how you play?

I play 2-3 times a week, and try to clean them after every round. On the course, I will give my wedge a quick brush through the grass to get the sand off it after a bunker shot, but that's about it unless a club ends up caked in mud after a shot.

However last week I didn't clean them at all, and played better as the week went on. I'm sure the two facts are not connected!

Dirty clubs perform better? Just another golfer superstition like the hundreds of others we all believe in ;)

If they actually performed better crud covered they'd be sold that way

About once a year before my annual trip to Scotland, purely because I am excited about going, rather than because I think they need to be cleaned. If they are really dirty after a round in winter, then I will probably give them a wipe and I always carry one of those metal wire brushes to give the grooves a clean when on the course, but over the summer they won't be cleaned at all.

Clean mine atleast once a month. Play 3 times a week and tend to clean them after a good round. So can be once a month, can be 4 times a month. Depends how well I'm playing to be honest

I would love a genuine answer from those who use dirty clubs. I clean mine with a wet cloth after every shot and at home after every round. How on earth is a club suppose to do its job if caked in dirt???? If it makes no difference to you then what is the point in grooves? Seriously.....those who rarely clean their clubs, what are you thinking

Seriously, why are you so bothered... 🤔

I do mine when I'm either playing a new course or a comp. Like a psr for big games

I recall a wedge that was always reckoned to be better as it naturally rusted and improved grip and thus spin. I think it was a Cleveland - in the back of the garage somewhere.

I clean mine about once a fortnight ie. about 6 rounds, Dirt in the grooves means nothing to me, I only ever put spin on a ball when its short!! I play Calleway supersoft which dont spin much anyway.. More bothered about the grips.. My mate never cleans his clubs, he plays at Gullane, links courses never get anything dirty..

Give them a quick wipe after each shot. Maybe clean the grooves with a tee pag before a par 3 tee shot and that's about it. My car gets a wash every couple of months or so too whether it needs it or not. It still seems to perform OK...just like the clubs.

Oddly enough did mine this evening as I have a work do tomorrow and didn't want to turn up with them having the odd spud or two attached.

Try to remember to do them (full clean) once a month but don't always succeed in following this up in deed.
