How much is too much?

I like the shape of the Mallet - don't like the sole though....

The other one looks, to me, like a million other Scotty putters - "This was made for a US Tour player and has a low toe profile as you can see in the Pictures. This is a more clean classic Newport 2 look. Only GSS Made like this. True Scotty Cameron Hand work. You can see in the Cavity and the Toe as it doesn't sit as high as normal Timeless"- Err no I can't............:mmm:

does look crazy price wise but if some1 is prepared to pay it ... id be upset with th ebay fees mind

Funny Enough
About 2 years ago, I sold this SAME GUY a Sonartec Wedge
Haggled the Price, then tried for 2 days to get £3 knocked off the Postage Price

One Week later and he was trying to sell it for £20 more than what he Paid ME for it.......
With a fancy VERY RARE SONARTEC........etc, description title

What is it with Scotty Cameron putters, even the cheaper ones seem to be very expensive to me, I always thought it was the person doing the putting more than the putter.

good point, if it was a magic putter that never misses then maybe these price tags would work but your right its the person not the putter

Another Scotty thread. Can we get a forum for people who want to complain about the price of collectible putters?

OK, I used to buy and sell these putters. I confess.

The simple fact is that the value of something is what someone else will pay for it. If I gave you a piece of canvas with a few quid worth of paint on it and maybe a nice frame, would you pay $156 million for it?

No? David Geffen did.

The Cameron putters that sell for 4 figure sums are usually rare hand made pieces, or those used by famous players, and if you have the means to spend that, and can later sell it for a similar amount, that is your right to do so. Of course it doesn't putt any better than one bought in your local pro shop, but then again the Jackson Pollock doesn't cover that mark on my living room wall any better than a picture of dogs playing poker that you used to be able to get in Woolworths. It is also your right to think it is madness and a waste of money. Some would argue the same is true of spending hundreds or thousands on a bottle of wine, a rare car, art, a hand made suit, jewellery etc etc. You pays your money and you makes your choice.

FWIW, I think the mallet is rather over priced and he will never sell it, except to a mug. But there are some mugs out there. The GSS Timeless is somewhat over priced too, but proportionally less so.

Have to agree with Ethan. Wouldn't buy it, but I do like the look of that mallet though.

Not a fan of that shape Stevie, looks a little like a red x.

I thought the Centre Shaft Red X was a lovely putter
They are releasing a New Black range in April 2012, which includes a GoLo S , which catches my eye, :whistle:Ive just gotta keep telling Myself, RESIST, Cameron Putters are TOO Soft off the face for me, RESIST.....lol

But it would match your lovely i20 driver and soon due fairways

I asked the same a while back.

Not knocking people that do it was more just asking why Scotty Cameron putters in particular seem to fetch crazy money.

As Ethan says, it is a sellers market for them. I wouldn't fancy holding a few of them if the bottom ever feel out of the market though!! Doubt it will due to the almost cult like following for his putters.

I've got a Cleveland Classic milled putter that is absolutely top drawer for less than £50. The name/marketing sells though
