Just wondering if their is an answer/theory out their for this. I currently play a callaway chromesoft ball and seem to be getting a lot of spin with the driver im debating on if I should change to something like the ad333 tour etc to maybe get less spin off the driver.
Is this a decent idea or pointless? I know ill be responsible for the spin coming off the driver but I often hear about low spinning golf balls and wondering just how much effect do these have?

Strike is the absolute king.

Minimal difference. Impact tape and a range session would be a better use of time and effort and less coin.

Prov1x spins less than a prov1, according to the box. But it's only by a couple of hundred rpm. It's not really enough to do much for most of us non pros.
There isn't a miracle cure all ball.

i don't know if it is a " in the head thing or not". Reason I say that is during the winter I started playing with the Callaway CXR power. Basically a distance ball. Lot less spin. Found the first one and smashed it, really well ( by a 21 hcap standard) bought a box for £9.99 from mike Ashley's cow sheds and loved them. Over the last week or two I have been swopping to an ad333 which I have played well with in the past. But I was rubbish, my swing was dire, the balls where going from a slight fade to a full blown fade. Had a couple of sessions on the range, got me swing back and had a very good 15 holes yesterday with Callaway CXR power balls. The three holes that killed me were short game issues.
That aside, would either get to the range or have a lesson to try and straighten out the problem. One of my PP homies was hitting it massively left to right and has bought the latest Ping driver. It has helped a bit but he still has the same swing problems.
if you do get swing sorted and then start hitting it straight you will then be back on here in three months coz the distance balls do not stop anywhere quick enough on the green.

When I am hitting it well I could be using a ad333 and I still get loads of spin, it's mostly strike. I play the chrome soft and its an awesome ball
To be fair, I do feel I get more back spin on the green with a prov. Don't think it makes much of a difference , play whatever makes you the most confident

If you talk to Titleist they will say their balls all go the same distance off the tee (+/- 10 yd) and that the important means of fitting a ball is in the short game where spin is more relevant.

Are you talking about side spin?
