I have to agree. If we are on temps because the greens are frozen I'll usually give a game a miss and go and hit some balls either onthe practice ground or a range. No way of playing properly and the bounce and distance is in the lap of the gods.

I think I need to move to Notts!!!
The reason I left my last club is that it has only half the course open and all on temp greens from end of Oct to begining of April !!!!!
I pay my subs for 12 months of proper golf not pitch and putt for 5 months!!!!!!!
Every one has different expectations.....mine are 12 months on proper greens...found 2 courses close to me with USPGA standard greens, no temps in the winter, one will be getting my money this year
We acquired a new Course Manager (Head Greenkeeper) about 5/6 years ago who happens to be a 12 handicapper. His first action was to tell members that there was no reason why we shouldn't play on proper greens all year round. True to his word, our greens have been superb all year round ever since and it's a pleasure to use my chipper around them

I know the saying is be careful what you wish for but I definately wish I lived near to this course

I usually try play all through the winter in prep for the following season, didn't get much in last winter cos of the weather and this year not so sure either. Missus is due in 2 weeks so might be bust for the next 18 years or so !!!
