How many sets of irons have you owned ?

I've been playing for 11 years,in that time i've had

Regal Ping Eye 2 clones.
King Cobra oversize
Maxfli Revolution (Blacks)
Maxfli A10 combo's
Taylor Made RAC TP combo's

Started playing in the mid/late 80's with a set of s/hand Lynx Predators...
Traded them in for a set of Tommy Armour 845's which some bugger nicked...
Insurance payout wasn't as good as I hoped so 'made do' with some Hippos next which for a budget club were far better than I expected...
Traded those in for a set of Mizuno MX100's when they came out which I just did not get on with...
Sold those on e-bay and got myself a set of Cobra SZ's which, currently, are doing me nicely...

Think if I hadn't had my Tommy Armours nicked they'd have still been in my bag...

Mizuno kids set when i was 7 or 8.

Got these while in my teens and got down to 6.

Callaway X12's from US with stiff graphite shafts
Mizuno T-Zoid Pro II Stiff shafts

Gave the game up for 6 years then:

Maxfli revolutions Black Dot (didnt work out though they are a lovely club)
TM RAC LT2 irons with stiff rifle shafts, great clubs.
Titleist AP2 S300 shafts, current and still loving them, would only change up for something special.

um....some old blades.....

then, roughly in order

Mizuno (cavity ones?)
Tommy Armour 845 Silver Scot
Mizuno TPs (not a good idea)
Mizuno T-zoids (horrible, cheap and nasty)
MacGregor V-foil 455 - excellent (only they were stiff)
Mizuno MX-900s
Callaway X-18

7 sets then. I still have 3.

No Taylor Made, Titleist or Ping in there.........

Surprised you didn't get on with the Maxfli's Brendy, what was the problem with them ?
If i could get my hands on a brand new set with S300's in,i'd put them in my bag tomorrow,i couldn't fault them, and i began playing with them off a 19 handicap.Very good blend of playability and forgiveness. What a shame the brand is now synonymous with entry level tat.

2 sets in 15 years

Lynx paralax
Mizuno MP60

I'm waiting until the updated variant on the mp53 comes out before i upgrade

First set were really old blades with fake wood effect shafts bugger to hit and looked hideous but played with these for a good while.
A set of McGreggor Tourney RMT2's were next followed quickly by a set of Howsens, then went back to a newer set of McGreggors.
Next was Nike NDS, then Titleist AP1's, now on Mizuno MP53's.

Mixed bag of odd's and sod's.
Wilson Sam Snead Blue Ridge.
Accushnet Ryder's
Wilson Staff
Mizuno Faldo id
Titliest blades
Ping i3
Callaway x-forged
Ping S57's

Over a period of 44 years.

And shortly, Titliest 712 mb.

I had a few demo rounds with a set years and years ago and loved them, I think my swing was in a bad place when I restarted the game even though I rejoined after a 6 year gap straight back in with a h/cap of 6. Over the next two and a bit years it ballooned to 9.7 including using them and then the lovely RAC LT 2's. I was hitting them ok on and off, my driving was a bit loose too and no amount of scrambling was saving me.
Then along came the AP2's fresh from Michael Bannon at a price I just couldn't resist and I am back down to 7.6 now (did get back to 7 briefly then the 36hole club champs happened, last 18 holes were poor).
I would like to have a hit with them again now just to prove to myself that it was my swing that wasnt doing them justice and not vice versa.

been playing 3 years and had 3 sets. Old set of Wilsons, mizuno mx 200's (which i loved) but then got custom fit for my Pings about 18 months ago. Never looked back..... and i am under 35 yrs old ......

Started out this time last year with an ancient set of Howsons, upgraded to a Wilson Hybrid Combo set around May time but have just splurged on some Nike Full Cavitys in the sales, so technically 3 in a year.

But I'm not planning on changing again any time soon!
