Stimulated by a thread elsewhere where it is taking nearly 50 rounds before the cost of annual subs is the same as paying for you r golf on a per round basis I was wondering how it varied amongst forum members.

I realise that there are other benefits to being a member of a club such as practice organised comps , social life priority booking etc but as a simple metric how many rounds do you have to play to pay back your annual sub. I am taking the price of a round as being between weekday and weekend rate in the summer excluding twilight rates etc.

For our club it is around 17 rounds

30 rounds at my place - I took a rough average of the rates, weekend, weekday, twilight and county card and compared to full 7 day member with no age reductions.

No visitors Saturdays. At Sunday summer rates: 12.5.

Our winter rates plummet by 65% for the 4 months when mats are in force though so the equation would look rather different then.

Full membership at full visitor rate, it's a smidge under 10. At guest rate it's 30.
Presumably there are limits on how many times someone can play as a guest though?

My first club only allowed a guest to play 5 times. Not sure about my current place 🤔. 5 seems reasonable, possibly generous. If you want to play somewhere more than that, join and support them properly.

Tricky to know what visitor rate to apply. I play weekends but if I wasn't a member I would never fork out the full peak visitor rate for my course. I also suspect we discount the peak rate for many visitors to make it look like a good deal.

Anyway, at peak rates its 20 rounds.

26 at standard visitor rate.
However visitors cannot play on a Saturday unless a members guest.

Checking it out I had not realised we had reduced our visitor green fees to the current amount (£50)

Weekends around 20, county card (weekdays) around 40, members guest 47 but you can only play 6 rounds as a guest so irrelevant.
I haven’t voted as not sure which the answer was,

Its between 25 and 35 depending on playing weekend/midweek and factoring in some reduced winter rate rounds.

I easily play 3 times more than that in a year.
