What does your differential spread look like?

Being reminded yet again so kindly by @Bratty (amongst many others) about my Mexican heritage after H4H - which got me thinking. What does the differential spread look like in your last 20?

My current index is 7.6, with my lowest counting differential being a 4.8 (dropping off round after next) and my highest counting being 9.7. As the 4.8 drops of that will be replaced by a 10.5... (well, not necessarily, but currently that is the next in line)

Difference between best and worst of my 8 counting rounds - 4.9 (4.8 - 9.7)
Difference between best and worst of my last 20 (all rounds considered) - 15.1 (4.8 - 19.9)

How does you scoring fluctuate?

Best one is 12.9 now. I just lost an 11.6 the other day.
My highest green counting score is 15.3.
Worst score in the last 20 is 27.4. Good old Club Championships.

Next round I have a 15.2 dropping off as well, so if I don't shoot 82 or better in the Saturday medal then my highest green score will become 15.8. And my index will be up to 14.8, which in all honesty is higher than it should be.

My lowest differential this year was 1.3 but that was in a match play round.

Consistently inconsistent.

So differential 6.4 of the counting, 14.3 of the 20. To expected profile I would guess.

Highest 8 - 18.6

So, differential of 4.6 of the counting (remove the freak and it becomes 1.6. Pretty consistent 8 then, suggesting the HI is spot on)

Anyone know what sort of numbers we should be seeing?

L8: 5.9 (Round of 77, Oct 22)
H8: 10.4 (round of 84, Sep 22)

L20: 5.9 as above (however I did a round of 79 and a diff of 6 at the weekend off the whites in a comp. The 5.9 was a social round.)
H20: 20.7 (round of 96, Aug 22)

Difference best worse 8: - 4.5
Difference best worst 20: - 14.8

What that tells you is that the 14 isnt a freak - its to expectation. Best 8 within 1.4 at your hi ( or anyones), would be a freak, or, indicate manipulation.

All over the shop is where they should be ! Thats golf !
Chasing consistency within a couple of sots is impossible. Scheffler or Rahm cant do it.
Or another way : in golf, all over the shop means consistent.

You are not the case, but I think the misunderstanding that ones scores should be a tight dispersion on ones hi is what leads some to manipulate, or self justify their manipulation, to be so.

I've stopped playing comps for 2 months because of injury. There's been no point.
