How many of you practice in the house ?

The other trick is, you can't practice anywhere this time of year, so on my putting mat I can keep my putting current(and believe me it soon drifts away) when I can't get time to get to the course in daylight, or non snowy/wet conditions.

Well if you want to include a 15 year old hitting a ping pong ball as practice then yeah never was not not right! ;)

Bobmac my short game is shocking, permantly encrusted with rust!!

Guilty!

Done it loads of times, usually for a bit of fun, chipping or even pitching in the house is much more difficult than on the course as there are less breakables and obstacles on a course as well as no height restrictions.

I have to add though, I dont think there is much serious benefit you can get, especially putting, other than getting the set off direction. :D

But surely on short (3 to 5 ft) that is all there is to putting.
whack it in the hole man, don't baby it in.
Hence a mat is fine, just practice whacking it in.

I think any practice is good for you, whether its putting on the carpet or chipping in your back garden. As for saying "Never, I've got a life" shut up mate, you might be good but you aint that good! If I or anyone else on here practices at home then we still have a life! I have a 4 month old son at home who I spend nearly all my time with, just because I practise at home also dosen't mean I don't have a life!

I have a life....I just choose to play/think about golf most the time!

I have been known to take full swings in my house. Theres this one uplighter that I've broken.. twice! Not with a ball but with a dodgy old SW thats lying round in my house. The funny thing is it helped me with my swing as it was in a place where my follow through shouldn't of been going. Every cloud..!

ademac

never said anything about being good, never said anything about not doing it because I dont need to.There are players on here better than me.
I even mentioned to bobmac Due to my lack of play my short game is always rusty but like I have already said I dont see it as being very beneficial and would rather spend that time my my kids and practice on the course where it counts more for getting a feel for my short game.

maybe just maybe I say things just to provoke a reaction sometimes, get the feathers ruffled, make the debate more interesting. ;)

Like to keep homer on his toes inparticular :D

Oh that's why you put that comment?? Wonder if anyone will pack up their toys and leave the forum because of it?? Oh no that was you - shouldn't try to give it out if you can't take it.

Tommo :D

I swear to you that when i get back from the course my clubs go in the garage and there not touched till the next time I go to the course.

Like i said in an earlier post im all for people wanting to improve so practice away in the house,in the garden or on planet mars.

Seriously ,even if i wanted to i just have not got the time with a 3year old and a 4 month old.

I have a 2 and a half year old son, so I've accepted that I don't have a life!!!

Therefore chipping and putting in the house is ok, I have to use the plastic practice balls for chipping though, after 'the incident'! Nearly put a pro V1 through the TV screen practicing little dinky chips - it wasn't so dinky!!!

Any one have driving nets in the garden?

Does Tiger Woods on the Wii count as practice???

I have almost worn a hole in my carpet in the spair room where i practised chipping onto a sofer - bed, helped me no end though, when i'm on the course just off the green and i need a little flop on i just picture my sofer bed and away i go.

I also have young children, as do many forumers i expect, but i don't think it makes anyone a bad father if they can spare a little of their limited free time on something they enjoy.... and i for one don't like being made to feel guilty for doing that.

I know that this isn't how these comments are intended but thats how they make me feel anyway, so please bare that in mind where possible.

:)

Back Garden golf nets!

I dont have one but that is a different kettle of fish for me.
To be able to hit full shots, video your swing and hit balls as you would on the course is bound to be helpfull.

Without seeing the end result of a shot though, hhmmm I suppose you know when you have hit a sweet shot, yeah still think that would be helpfull.

What do you guys think who have one?

well i have my garage set up as a golfing shrine! Full length mirror on the wall to check the swing. Its starting to look like an AG store! Tend to practice my swing drills most nights when the fiancee is at the gym toning up. Brought my handicap down by 3 shots within a year, so can't be bad. Prefer to do this instead of sitting in front of the tv of an evening, as my day job involves being on a computer all day.
