How many GC in your area?

A while back at our AGM. Pricing was discussed, in the hope of attracting more members. It was stated that in the Manchester area there are "68 golf courses in total". Which to me seemed a lot. Never realised there were that many to be honest. So I was wondering how many you had in your areas?.
 
Off the top of my head within 15 miles..

Sunningdale, wentworth, queenwood, Swinley Forest, bearwood, camberley heath, windlesham, sunningdale ladies, mill ride, royal ascot, the berkshire, east berks, woking, worplesden, west hill, merrist wood, pine ridge, hoebridge, Pyrford, silvermere, foxhills, blue mountain, bird hills, traditions, downshire...

So quite a few and that's just on my doorstep and I've probably missed some
 
in the whole are not sure but within a 10 min distance from my house there are 9 of all standers from muni's to top members clubs and 5 driving ranges
 
4 within the town itself. However with it being on the south Yorkshire/Nottinghamshire border there is probably over 50 within a short drive with Sherwood Forest GC being the best and toughest.
 
Chilwell Manor, Beeston Fields, Edwalton, Riverside, Bulwell Hall, Bulwell Forest, Radcliffe GC, Wollaton Park, Ruddington Grange, The Nottinghamshire (2 courses), Hucknall/Leen Valley, Mapperley, Trent Lock to name a few. These are the ones I can get to within a few hundred yards of on public transport since I don't own a car.

As intherough says theres no end of courses around here (I live in West Bridgford, about 30 miles from Chesterfield). If I were to up the category to a 30 minute drive I could probably do my own Top 100 once I stepped into Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Derbyshire.

Theres some very impressive clubs listed there, you are spoilt for choice!
 
Back in Grimsby clubs were a little lacking probably only 8 within a suitable distance (furthest one out is Elsham at about 30 mins drive), here in Hampshire its a bit better.

I am really not willing to travel more than 20 minutes in good traffic to get to a club, that opens up at least 11 courses just from my flat in the middle of Chandlers ford.
 
Within 30 mins;

Hunley Hall, Saltburn, Cleveland, Wilton, M'bro Muni, M'bro Brass Castle, Ingleby Barwick, Norton, Eaglescliffe, Seaton Carew, Hartlepool, Wynyard Hall, Rockcliffe, Darlington, Blackwell Grange, Stresshome, Dinsdale.

Needless to say Cleveland is by far the best! *runs and hides*

initial reaction would be 'probably missed a lot'....I don't live there but West Byfleet, New Zealand instantly spring to mind in relation to the ones listed (but I may have my geography wrong?) without really thinking...

Also there's the matter of courses or clubs as well - you have many multiples in your selection.

Westerhope, Close House, Ponteland, Matfen Hall, Hexham, Tynedale, Stocksfield, Prudhoe, Tyneside, Ryton, Newcastle United, City of Newcastle, Gosforth, Northumberland, Parklands, Arcot Hall, Backworth, Wallsend, Heworth, Ravensworth, Whickham

I THINK thats it........
Loadsa Courses, not many Great ones though..........:(
 
Down here in Bournemouth we don't have an abundance of courses but we do have quality. Within about 10 miles of my house there are Broadstone, Parkstone, Ferndown, Remedy Oak and Isle of Purbeck. All of them either are or have been in the Top 100 at some time or other.
 
All within a 30 minute drive from my house -

Aberdour,Anstruther, Auchterderran, Balbirnie Park, Ballingry, Burntisland, Canmore, Charleton, Cowdenbeath, Cluny Clays, Crail, Cupar, Drumoig, Dunfermline, Dunnikier Park, Earlsferry Thistle, Elmwood, Elie, Falkland, Forrester Park, Glenrothes, Kinghorn, Kinghorn Ladies, Kingsbarns Links, Kinross Golf Courses (Montgomery & Bruce), Kirkcaldy, Ladybank, Leslie, Leven Links, Leven Thistle, Lochgelly, Lundin Links, Lundin Ladies, Methil, Pitreavie, Saline, Scoonie, Scotscraig, St Michael's, Thornton, Wellsgreen, St Andrews Courses -Balgove Course, The Castle Course, Duke's, Eden Course, Jubilee Course, New Course, Old Course

Add to that Edingburgh, Dundee, Stirling and Perth are reachable in 30 odd minutes and you can double the amount above.

Spoiled for choice really :)
 
Within 15 mins from my house Warwick, The Warwickshire, Leamington & County, Newbold Comyn,Kenilworth, Finham, Hearsall, Windmill Village,Brandon,Ingon Manor,Stratford Oaks,The Welcombe,Stratford on Avon,West Midlands,Widney Manor,Stonebridge, Whitefields.Lods more if I extend the time to 30 mins.
