Well, I had the sabretooth out again this morning and I had a little more success. I found that I had techie from anywhere around the green whereas before I would've used the putter with a good success rate. I'm going to leave it in the bag for now and if things aren't going right I might change to a traditional grip.

I spent three hours at Nevada Bobs last year deciding between a Ping Scottsdale and a Nike Method. Had a stiff back by the time I finally made up my mind. Having said that either one would have suited as they felt so similar. Still, took a bit of pressure off the living room carpet.

Putters are like shoes if they ain't comfortable from day one then I'd rather not bother with the pain waiting for them to get right...

Thanks for the replies but as you'll notice the putter is up for sale. I've had a further 3 long sessions on the putting green and 3 rounds of golf but I'm just not getting along with the Sabertooth. The MD Connemara putter is now back in the bag and I'm looking forward to getting back to my 2 putts
