Yeah scratch. Right.

Pro. LOL

It ain't gonna happen.

So how good do you want to be? Deep down.

Of course I want to be cat1. But I haven't got the talent. And even if I did, I know I'd never put in the effort and practice required.

In fact I know that I'll never put in the effort to be as good as I possibly can.

I also know that I rarely play to 18 nowadays.

But I'm capable of it. And I know that if I invested the time I could get a few more shots off it.

So for me, if someone gave me a blank handicap certificate, I'd put myself down for 14.

I dunno if I'll ever get down there again, but I think it's a realistic limit, and one that I could play the odd game to soon if ever it all goes right. And one that I wouldn't have to kill myself to keep.

Am I alone? Does everyone genuinely crave to keep on getting cut?

Or do most people foresee a plateau? If so where is it and how long will it take you to get there?

A damned sight better than I am now!

Seriously, if I could get down to mid to high teens I'd be very happy. Obviously, once I get there I'd want more! But at this moment in time I'd be very happy playing off 14-18.

Hoping to get to around 6-7, I think I can go lower, but I dont think I have the time to maintain it, I think with the amount I play and practice that 6-7 is a realistic goal over the next couple years.

I want to be under 22 by this time next year, but I would be happy hitting under a hundred this summer.

When younger I was off 9 but now after a long (18yrs) layoff for family I'm off 15. Not bad and it shows I still have a half decent swing. I'd love to get to 10 and stay there, not too much to ask, that's my goal.

I really want to be cat 1 but would be happy with around 7-8 which I think is achievable once these swing changes take effect.

Single figures for me although i don't have enough time to practice ad have a few lessons with having a young family.

One day though!

If I wasn't using a faceless technologically advanced communication system I'd look you straight in the eye, unwavering, unblinking without the faintest trace of doubt, anxiety or sarcasm and say 'Cat 1 as a minimum'.

How long it will take me I don't know but I seriouslybelieve I can get there :D

Better than my handicap :)

In other words when I started it was a miracle to break 100 but it came and now with every handicap reduction I want to go one better.

So at the moment really happy to play to my 6 but looking to play to 5 every time I tee it up ;)

Realistically i've already reached my limit and i'm actually happy to be sliding back up. Lowest i've been is 3.0 and tbh its a slog and now i'm back to 4 I quite like the idea of being a 5 ;) If I swing between 4 and 5 I would be happy to see out my playing days , I dont want to see 3 by my name ever again

Yup, I remember lat year.

A bandit off 5.

Carried me 'round WH to thrash those darned Pingers.

:)

I taught him everything he knows, donchaknow.

Well I don't have an official handicap as I've only recently really started to play the game regularly, and having a young family means I can't do weekend comps etc. I guess I'm on about 12 right now. I'm getting to play around 3 times a week, and have improved a lot over the past month since practicing short-game and putting.

I would say I have fair natural ability (I'm good at most sports I try, am a regular snooker century break-maker) so my aim is to get to low single-figures, and see what happens from there.

I may be way off in my estimation of what I can achieve, but if you don't set tough goals you don't make them! :)
