How Does Your Club Attract New Members

Have you tried Thornton golf club,£400 a year, no joining fee, comps every Wed, Sat, and Sunday throught the season, the biggest practice area in Fife, some of the best greens in Fife.

Those of you who aren't members of a club, what would attract you to join a club nowadays ?
I love the idea of being a member somewhere, being able to turn up and play 'for free' would be great.

Things against for me is the lads I play with regularly don't live close together so there isn't a course that would be practicle for us to all join.

Happy being a no-mad at the minute!

I dont think my own Club is doing much in particular to attract new members, but fortunately, I dont think we need to, its reputation locally and the course itself keep it in high demand.

They have spread the joining fee over 3yrs, but thats the only concession they have introduced.

I may be lucky, be there is nothing (apart from one/two very minor issues) that I can think of that could make the place any better to be a member of.

After a conversation with Thornton GC, I will be taking out my membership this week, only £35 joining fee

Would have preferred Balbirnie but just too expensive. However Thornton is the best option.

R.E Balwearie, played there as a junior, still the only course I have broken par on, looking forward to the open there on 8th Aug. Unfortunately just a little too far for travelling given there are several courses closer to me.

I think a lot of clubs have lost their social scene and its another reason why people are not loyal to clubs, you turn up at 8pm friday night and the clubs are like ghost towns. I play ay a municipal and has the best social scene of any club in Leeds, we have discos and all sorts of things, really we are one big family.

If you dont mind me asking, how much is membership there? (Private Message me if needs be!)

Cheers

I play at Rudding Park near Harrogate. They have three ways to join, Full member, Weekday member and the one Im on which is a credit scheem. You pay £150 to join then buy as many credits as you need. if you play off peak you loose less credit than at peak times which works for me as Im a shift worker. It gives you the same rights as a full member so works out ok.
