how do you know when to get your grips redone?

When you daren't take driver on a wet day at a hole where there is water in front of the tee!!

I tend to get mine done once a year. I guess if you look after them and clean them regularly you can get a good two or three years out if you don't play and practice excessively. However my clubs get used a lot and so after a while they do tend to get worn and so that's when I look at changing them. Tour velvet for me with two layers of tape

If you think they need re-gripped then they probably do.

I left a lob wedge out on a course and luckily for me got it back. The cold and wet had done for the grip though.

I took ages getting it re-gripped and when I did I wished I'd done it much sooner. Before, whenever I used the club it was always niggling in the back of my mind that the grip was anything but grippy.

After a new grip I'm finding shots with that club I never knew I could play - all down to the confidence that the club is not going to slip in or from my hands.

Everybodies different, and grips are different,i used to play 2-3 times a week and never changed my grips more than once every 2 or 3 years.I'm sure i remember reading that Fred Couples keeps his grips on for longer, and deglaze's them with fine emery cloth when they get a bit slick.

Every 6 weeks !!!!!! I hope your sponsored by Golf Pride, cos that is some serious dollar being spent if not.
I've never heard of anybody regripping clubs that often, and that includes a couple of friends who are PGA pro's and teaching 6-7 days a week, they hit hundreds of balls every day on the range.
