how did we all get on today?

Played at my girlfriends course today and shot a 66 par 68 on the winter course and

HAD A HOLE IN 1!!!!!!!!! first one for me as well i was buzzing to say the least.
:D

Went out with the new i15's in my bag today. Course I've never played, freezing cold and blowing a gale up on top of the South Downs.
17 points out, 20 points in with a blob on the last!!
Simple par 5 but a blind tee shot over the top of a marker post. Hammered my drive OK but it appears the wind must have got hold of it as it went out of sight over the hill and it ended up about 6" OOB down the right hand side....
Damn. I was two over gross on the back 9 up to that point too!
The new clubs were fantastic. Love 'em to bits.
:D :D :D :D :D :D

Had my chipping lesson at lunchtime which has cured me of my faults. Home for bacon sarnie and then up the club for an hour working on the new technique. I'm happier than a car salesman with new Pings and was holing out with scary regularity on the shorter ones and scaring the hole even from 25 yards uphill

Today has been a long time coming....last game was 8th Nov and since then I have had Cellulitis (swollen leg),mild Pneumonia, and during the Xmas holidays I tore a tendon in my wrist after falling in the snow while walking my dogs.

So today the score didnt matter... a lot of 4's and 5's a couple of OB's but I got round to the 16th before the wrist problem kicked in and I had to give up but hey! ho! Im back and really looking forward to the new season.

Glad you liked the new sticks Rob, hope they perform as well over the next few rounds :)

What did you think of East Brighton? Have to say, apart from Lewes, you probably picked one of the windiest courses in this area. So to score 37 points in those conditions is pretty good going.

Golfmmad. :D :D

2 time out with my new Irons so i wasnt expecting miracles....Still in the honeymoon phase but i was hitting them well....Just have to sort out my alignment with them as my old irons i used to hit with a fade ...
I seem to be hitting the FG Tours either straight or with a draw so now what i used to be aiming at with my old set im actually hitting with the new bats :D :D
Im also tinkering with my grip from an interlocking to the Vardon and it feels a little funny but im straighter and i know it'll take a few more rounds to sort....
Still went out with 17 points and came in with 14 for 31...Very windy today so the course was playing a little longer.

Captains Drive in yesterday 3 man 1 lady scramble shot gun start.

We managed to win the front nine Enjoyable game and good night in the club last night.

3 man, 1 lady and a good night in the clubhouse after!!!!

Mind boggles  ;)

Played reasonably ok.

Saturday sweep off the yellow tees, out in 42 ( 19 points), 6 over, and 2 blobs on back nine for a total of 31 points. Comp is played with three quarters of handicap so things going ok.

Congrats andiritchie, something to be proud of indeed! :)

I've not had one yet.........yet - who knows :D :D :D

If Smiffy played ok, I'm glad I wasn't there. No one wants to see that.

Next time I play with him, I might take a blind fold.

On the other hand, blind squirrels and nuts.

What did you think of East Brighton?

Quite a nice course Chris, in very good condition for the time of year. The only thing I didn't like was the fact that there were quite a few blind tee shots where you had not a clue of where you were going..would have been a bit easier had we played it before. Also their system of blue/red/yellow flags was a bit confusing at first but once again, that was due to not having played the course before.
Couple of dodgy tee positions as well, where you are either teeing off over another fairway or have a fairway heading towards you!
Beautiful turf though, really easy to nip the ball off and the greens were good too.
Very windy though as you say. Bearing in mind how nice a day it was and there was very little wind down at "sea level" it was quite suprising just how breezy it was. And cold. Don't think it got above 2 degrees all the way round. I'd like to play it again but preferably on a nice Summers evening when the wind is dying down a bit. Will definitely give it another go at sometime so if ever you are up for a game one evening let me know.
Rob

Better get that sig changed Homer ;)

Why and into what. I've got the TP's in the bag for the forseeable now. Hitting great and I can chip again now too. The only change I'll need to make will be to the handicap figure as it drops
Had a few beers yesterday and misread the post I think, thought you had new Pings :D

So to sum up so far...

3 over off 7..."not that good"

82 off 17 (65)

Net 64 with a quad

42 pts again

a shocking net 70

72 net 60, 6 shots off the pace

Net 67 with 4 clubs

79, net 62

37 pts with a blob on a strange course with new clubs

You guys must have been working hard over the winter. Well played.
Except for smiffy, it was the clubs that did it all :D

Yesterday if I could only hole some putts I would have been about 3/4 deep! I played Saunton East & only missed one fairway and missed 3 Greens in reg! 6 over par not back considering its my second game of the year :) the gym work and swing work over the winter looks to be paying huge dividends just need to get some putting practice in.
