Its a derogative term, not a nickname, almost all Germans I knew and still know after living over there for 4 years find it very offensive!

Although France has a couple of navy bits of hardware that belong to the big bear, the boxheads are a major trading partner with RasPutin and his mates as most of their oil and gas come curtesy of Russia. They have been the major blocker within the EU for not applying worth while sanctions, so when the list of sanctions is announced on Thursday I suspect Germany to be the major stumbling block.

But I'm a synic so HID says and spent to many tours with the UN.

I would guess it wasn't in the diplomacy/mediation area though! :rofl:

As, I think, something like 30% or more of their Oil/Gas comes from Russia, I think the assessment is correct though!

I have many german friends and am going back to Berlin for a few days soon. Do some take it as a joke - yes - do some fine it offensive - yes - bit like jock so I know when and where to use it. This is the interweb so hey ho. Perhaps some day I will have the pleasure of your company in real life and you can discuss your sensibilities with me.

It would seem everybody and their mate has 'good reasons' to continue to sit on their collective hands over this...
