Hotel la Finca - Alicante

Hi - played La Finca in February - thought it was very good and would have no problem going to play it again. It is a relatively new course and the prices reflect this to entice visitors. The course was well bedded in by the way.

Thing is - it is a wee bit isolated about 25-30 mins from Alicante airport and has nothing around it (from what i could see) Secondly i can't recall seeing any hotel even though it says on the website it sits in the middle of the course????????????

Cheers AH, looking at the website it looks like the hotel is in the middle of 3 courses but aas always direct experience is better than supposition based on a website.
Really looking for 5 days of golfing action on decent courses with better weather in November than NE Scotland (not hard I know).
Was looking at Spain - either Malaga / Alicante or Murica - easiest flights from Scotland. Been to La Manga and Fuengirola before so know some of that area but am open to options.

La Cala? beautiful hotel and 3 challenging courses

Have to agree. Have stayed at La Cala 5 times. Lovely hotel - 15mins in a taxi down to Fuengarola. Courses are fine (personally i don't get fed up playing them) and in good nick 3 to play. Always deals when you stay in the hotel. You might pay a bit more on the 5* accomodation but last time they were doing 5 rounds for 100 quid when you stayed in the hotel. La Cala offers good value all round in my opinion. You also have a course called Santana 5 mins away which was a good course and relatively cheap.

Not sure what Dodger was trying to say - either he doesn't like the courses at La Cala or has never heard of the place. If you get a good deal on the golf and the courses are standard Spainsh fair and in good condition, a bit of sun, a few San Migs - what's not to like? Of course you could play Valderrama, Real Sotogrande, San Roque, Marbella Club, fantastic golf courses, loved them but you have to re-mortgage the house to include them in a weeks golf holiday.

hotel is at the la finca course. as someone said before, you'd need a car to get about if you wanted to eat/drink outside of the hotel as a bit remote (only 10 minute drive from towns but you couldn't walk it)

the other two courses mentioned on the website, villamartin and las ramblas are owned by the same company but about 25 mins drive from la finca.

nice course but apparantly hasn't been at it's best this year. well worth the price you'd be paying if you stayed at the hotel though.
