It sounds like this was a pretty extreme case, I wish it could be applied more liberally to those that middle lane hog and make the motorways a dangerous place to be.

Been using the newly widened southern loop of the M25 recently and have noticed the 'middle lane hoggers' have gravitated out to the third lane... Making them even more of a pain....

Yeah I noticed that too. I feel a little daft 2 lanes inside of them doing 70 and "undertaking" them.

I saw the exact same on Sunday afternoon - outside lane a long procession of traffic, third lane busy but not full, second lane completely empty, inside lane me (and a lorry or two).

Ridiculous.

In my opinion you're either part of the problem or part of the solution.
