Hoof Prints on the Green

Plus if your using an 'iDevice' then you can't use the RandA site as it uses flash !

I have an R&A Rules app on my iPhone, although it doesn't include decisions. Thought that was a bit odd, as you are not supposed to use an iPhone on the course, where you are most likely to want to check a rule!

Maybe you mean it's a club rule that you can't use the phone, but there's nothing in the Rules to stop you using it for phoning, looking up rules, getting a weather forecast and so on - anything that isn't gauging or measuring stuff that could assist your play.

Apologies if you know all that.

iPhones are now a bit of a problem, as any running on iOS6 have a built in level feature which cannot be disabled. This means they cannot be used to measure distance.
Providing the club has not prohibited mobile phones on the course at all, if it is not used as a DMD, then it may be used for any conforming function (eg to check a rule, make a call or take a compass bearing (the latter from 1/1/14)).

Only recently clarified, and our club does have a club rule banning the use of mobile phones in the clubhouse and on the course, although it does not seem to be enforced. We do have the local rule permitting the use of DMD's by the way.
