Sat Morning i played a crisp 6iron to a par 3, it hit the ridge i aimed for and bounced of torwards the hole it finished bouncing and rolled right towards the cup.

I got this feeling which is almost impossible to put into words pure excitment i think as the ball moved closer to the hole.

It missed by what must have been 1/2 and inch.

My question is how dose it feel it get a hole in one? I was close and almost had a heart attack. God only knows what i would have done if it actually droped!

So how dose it feel and what did you do after it went in (or missed?!?!)

Well.... you definately won't forget it :)

You'll remember the hole, the club you hit, the flag position, the shape of shot and what the wind was like.... forever!

I dont know, but I have had similar feelings, but only when the shot has been planned and executed the way I saw it, I have had different feelings when I have mis-hit or sent it off on a line I didnt choose then hit the flag.

There is luck involved but, I dont suppose there is a better feeling when you hit a shot exactly how you wanted to and it does the job. I had such a shot a few days ago which got me nearest the pin prize, and as it approached the hole following one bounce and another smaller one, I felt sure this was the one Ive waited 30 yrs for, I really dont know how I will feel if I get one from a poor shot or a really jammy bounce? I want mine to be a well executed shot.

I've had 2: My first was on a par 3 course and the hole was only 70 yards long - I pushed a sand wedge and it hit a greenside mound accelerated across the green, whacked the flag and sunk. I just laughed at the most jammy hole in 1 and it didn't feel too special!
The second was a 281 yard par 4 and I hit the drive I planned, with a slight draw to a back left flag and I saw it all the way until it disappeared! I could not grab my bag and get to the hole quick enough as I just could not believe it! I will never forget looking into the hole and seeing my ball in there, I did a bit of punching the air and a silly dance and proceeded to double bogey the next hole - a par 3!!
I reckon it's more the satisfaction of the perfectly planned shot with an extra special ending that gives you the buzz!

Ive had one. It just bounced about 5 feet in front of the hole and I just got this weird feeling, quite like a chip in feeling but multiplied by about 10 lol- then it just kept going towards the hole then it dropped in!!! lol I got this weird sense of 2did it really go in" :D then it was just pure excitement and my heart was pumping! What a feeling. Must try it again sometime lol :D

It is a great feeling, mine happened in the same round that got me cut to single figures. Only regret was not keeping ball, lost it shortly afterwards and wished I had kept it as a momento, date, hole etc written on it.

I didn't see mine go in the hole - it was very sunny and the the hole played right into it. I knew I'd hit a good one and started off towards the hole. Couldn't find the ball and it wasn't "long". Must be in then I thought. Sure enough there it was. Couldn't really get over excited. Trouble was I was playing on my own and there was nobody else on the course at all.
And before you all start - I've had all the comments from the rest of the club - but i know I did it and that's what counts!

Ironically the closest I got was on a blind par 3 (4th at Wimbledon Common) which is about 170 off the whites and to a bowl shaped green behind a tree lined mound. Hit a great 5 iron nice and high and apparently from the old guy walking his dog by the green it pitched on the fringe followed the slope of the green and lipped out before stopping about 6" away. Never saw a thing

Had one on our 16th. par 3 of 154yds. Was playing with a mate and hit a 7 iron into the breeze, it pitched by the hole one bounce and spun back into the hole. I just looked at the pin, turned to my mate and said "has that gone in". As we walked up to the green i looked at the car park to see what the damage was going to be, luckily it wasnt to bad. A lad, James Cooper, playing in the Spring Medal last month hit his shot over the back of our par 3 186yrd 10th into some crap, he hit a provisonal which went straight into the hole. He didnt bother to look for his first one.

Closest I've been was on the 9th hole of the Buddon Links, Very short par 3, around 115yds.
Landed about 6ft in front of pin, rolled, kept rolling, rolled some more,
Then stopped....still above ground.
When we went up, it was sitting about 5" directly behind the hole. God only knows how it ended up there without going in, but heyho! It'll happen one day I'm sure.

PS. Got new irons today, didn't think it deserved a thread of it's own, but though I'd mention it as the wife is so not impressed. MP57s

Yes it's a great feeling. I've been lucky enough to have had 4 in my time, but the last one was during the 2nd round of our club championship 2 years ago, our 3rd hole, I hit a lovely pw straight at the hole and all we heard was the clink of ball hitting pin. Great, wasnt sure it was in till we were half way up hole. Great feeling, a bit costly but how many times do we have a hole in 1 on our way to win the Club Championship.
It's up on our hole in 1 club board in the club house so its a great reminder to me on the date and the yardage. I do look at it sometimes.
Must be time for another one soon.
