hog damage

The badgers did some serious damage at Brocket Hall last year, they pretty much turned over the whole 16th fairway on the Melbourne course overnight as well as in other spots, have seen little spots before but never a whole fairway

We have one roaming around Broke Hill at the moment. Exactly the same damage as in the picture but he's sticking to the 2nd cut of rough so far.

We have a 3 ft high electric fence around the whole perimeter of our course for this very reason.

Had a week at a rather high quality course in the Loire where their first job when creating it was to fence the course and eliminate the 'sangliers'. They left the Deer which did some damage to greens, but were nowhere near as destructive!

I saw that Badger damage at Brocket last year - pretty depressing on Melbourne 16 and on a couple of tees of the Palmerston.

Strangest damage I saw was done by a digger that fell into a sink-hole in the middle of a fairway!

cant say i have seen Boar damage on a green even if i do play at Boarshead golf centre.
seen carlos fandango wheels on a Ford Anglia damage though. ex greenkeeper at my old club.

Been a member up here a total of 8 years and twice seen 2 large holes appear on the course from subsidence due to the old mine shafts that run underneath, 1 was about 8-10 feet across, the other was 4-5 yds wide.

Our course has suffered damage by badgers and horses at various times in the past. The badgers did an awful lot of damage digging for grubs, and a herd of horses got loose onto our course and trampled over a number of our greens, leaving a lot of horseshoe shaped dents in them. :(

I'm a Greenkeeper by trade and have seen endless damage done by the ole black 'n' whites, once had a green completely destroyed when they took it upon themselves to just dig for the sake of it, at least you can get the hogs culled !...
