Playing a round with my dad and one other senior the other day, we got to the 4th, which is a slight dog leg left, you can't see the green as there are a few lines on conifers down the left hiding it. In front of the tee box about 75yds in front there are two large mature trees, for which you generally aim for the middle, a good straight shot off the tee leaves you with a short wedge to the green.
My dads friend went off first, a nice shot a little right but it stayed on the short stuff, my dad hit a good straight shot between the trees smack into the middle of the fairway.
Up steps me, I aimed left over the top of the left hand tree, let rip and the ball went more left than intended and for the world looked like it was going to end up in the conifers at the far end. My dad even commented so.
As we walked up to the balls, I trudged through the trees looking for my ball, it was no where to be found, I cleared the trees still no where to be found, walked up to the front left bunker not in there, but there on the green was my ball.
It's 292yds to the front of the green and mine was well on, I was well chuffed, first put was up a step, played it careful but not so careful, got the ball to within 2 feet, then sunk it for a birdie.
My dad's friend commented that he had heard of others making the green in one, but he'd never seen it himself until I had done it. He then went on to tell everyone we passed for the next 14 holes about my drive.
Needless to say a 292yd drive, green in regulation in one on a par 4 and a birdie, I was well chuffed and I think my dad was pretty pleased as well.
Cheers
