Hi all

To start I have not been hit by a golf ball but have been wondering if anyone has? I can imagine that it would be quite painful but is it like you can get knocked out or does it just leave a nice bump on the head?

Odd i know but it is Friday so why not.

Hope you have a great weekend and great rounds to one and all. :whoo:

My partner was chipping out of the treeline to the green and didn't see me.
His shot hit the tip of ear and skimmed off me.
That wasn't a full on shot but it was enough to really hurt and for a very audible expletive to leave my lips.
My ear was on fire for hours.
Fortunately it was a very cold day.

And.......... no, he didn't reach the green!

I was playing about with my brother in law earlier in the summer in his family garden, we were seeing how far we could hit a 58* wedge into the field at the back. He got ahead of me for whatever reason and of course I thinned one right into his side. At the time I was sure he would have broken ribs but he did not, however it took him down and he is a big lad. He had a lump and then a mark for weeks... Black and blue!!

I am sure if I hit is head it could have killed him and that is just a wedge...

Been hit a couple of times, got hit square between the shoulder blades by a playing partner last Autumn I'd walked up the side of the fairway to find my ball in the rough, he thinned 1 left and wallop! luckily it was a cold day so there were a couple of layers being worn, still left a perfectly circular bruise though.

The other one was flush on the elbow, now that did hurt and got a surprising case of the Lord Voldemorts immediately afterwards - luckily it was a bounce game so I walked a couple of holes!

Surprised that did not break your arm!

did you not ear it coming lol :D

Got belted last year at Upchurch took it straight in the ribs, bruised like a wotsit and hurt like hell.

Was playing a game behind a group a few months later where a guy took one straight in the mouth. There was a fore shout but he ducked into the bounce of the ball and it came up and hit him square, there was a lot of claret and an emergency dentist trip. Now that had to hurt.

Former colleague of mine broke his arm after getting hit. Arm was covering his head after a shout of "fore" so could have been worse!

I saw a guy playing with a helmet on recently, a bit over cautious I thought but maybe not!

I've been hit once - from a full blooded swing with a hybrid that came off the heel 10 yards away! Managed to get my arm up in time otherwise it would have probably killed me. 8 inch bruise a couple of days later and could recognise the ball from the 'dimples'!

Seen the result of a couple of ball-hit-head too, where the guy was flattened even from 150 yards away! Not pleasant - and a hospital trip involved.

No, but I did once hear a ball whistle past my face by inches.
I was up on the green and one of our party, off the green, mis-hit a chip and caught it full on.
The chap who struck it said "If I'd shouted I thought you might have turned into it".
I think he was right.

Ive been hit twice, first time my mate duffed his 3 wood so I started walking on to my ball and for some reason he decided to hit another ball which he smashed into the back of my leg from about 10 yards, bruise covered the whole of my upper leg, 2nd time a ball bounced just short of me and hit me flush on the jaw.

Twice. First was self-inflicted as got greedy when behind a tree and smacked the ball straight into it only for it to come back just as fast into my chin. Split it and had a Clint Eastwood look for a while. Second time was playing a match, opponent in the trees and I stood adjacent on the fairway as she smacked it into a tree and rebounded straight into my rib cage - ouch!

Got hit in the back by someone teeing off on our third before I'd even moved off from playing my second from the fairway. One bounce and straight into me at the base of the spine. Guess I was lucky in one respect that it wasn't the head. Went down like an Italian striker in the box. Was marking a card so tried to play on but once the bruising and swelling started to come up I couldn't swing and so had to stop and just hobble round.

Got hit by a stray drive this week! On the side of the leg, just above my knee. Was like getting a good kick with a pointy shoe haha

Was also hit 2 years ago...this was a belter. My mate thinned his drive and it hit the ladies tee marker/ info thing (a lot of these markers were in dangerous places). The ball came flying towards me, hitting my left ankle bone before ricocheting onto my right ankle bone. Was going too fast to jump out the way! Comedy gold.

I saw an old lady walking the course get hit on the arm from 180yds and it broke her arm.

Also seen one of my playing partners top a shot and it bounced a couple of times before clonking the 3rd member of our group on the head,,,, he saw it coming too... moved a couple of different directions to try and get out of the way and it still hit him!! LOL :p - the bump was massive! even from a 'crappy topped bouncer'.
