Hit by a Golf Ball

1st time - hit on the back from about 10ft... flippin' ouch.
2nd time - hit on the head, a 5 wood rebound - hosiptal overnight.
3rd time - hit in the jewels... double flippin' OUCH!!
4th time - hit on cheek - Air Ambulance job... that ouched for a couple of weeks, and a year later is still uncomfortable

Had just the 1 incident - in Cape Cod America on a summer working holiday. I was trying to get another student who was living with us into the game and had taken him to the driving range a few times. He was hitting it better than me, so decided to try 18 holes.

On the tee, a few teens sat on a badly placed bench (about 45 degrees in front of the tee area) waiting for us to tee off. He heeled a drive and it bounced towards one of the young lads. He reached up to cover his mouth but was a second too late and it caught him flush in the mouth. As he removed his hand the ball dropped and the bleeding started. Round over - walked them back to the clubhouse and he was jolly enough but would need his front two teeth adjusted.

My mate was white as a ghost and never picked up a club for the remainder of the summer. Made all the worse by the fact we were working on a private golf course!

Luckily for both parties the Tee shot was so bad it took a bounce in some rough grass first which took alot of the energy out of it.

A lad in a fourball I was in got hit in the ribs from about 230yards while lining up a put with no fore shout!, took him down and he had bad ribs for a month.

worst I've seen was a young lad at the driving range.....he was minding his out business when all of a sudden you heard the sound of ball on metal......next thing you hear is people shouting get an ambulance! Someone had thinned a drive into a trampoline style chipping target 50yards out and the ball ricocheted and smacked him in the face.....knocked out, fractured cheekbone, broken nose and lots of blood. Trampoline styled chipping targets were not there the day after.

Got belted last year at Upchurch took it straight in the ribs, bruised like a wotsit and hurt like hell.

Having had 2 balls crash through us there on Wed in a practice round I shall look forward to our HDID game tomorrow!

I was hit full on the chest be my partner a couple of years ago, I had a bruise the ice of a dinner plate!

I was playing the 9th at Almerimar, (with another forummer), and was about 50yds ahead of him at an angle of about 45º.
He was using a 5 wood to clear a lake when I suddenly heard him scream my name.
I turned round to see this thing curving like a tracer bullet straight at me. It hit me on the inside of my thigh ............................. and I was wearing shorts! It put me on the floor alright. For about an hour there was just a white golf ball sized circle in the centre of a red tennis ball sized circle.
The following day the bruise had emerged as a fabulous collection of reds, yellows, blacks & blues .......... it was quite something.
No lasting damage and we still laugh about it regularly.

Slime.

Slime, I played squash for 30+ years.
A full drive to the body takes you down and produces a deep blue circle which, over the coming days, becomes fascinating to look at as it produces a myriad of ever changing, and outwardly spreading colours.
Most weird.
By the way "forummers" suggests golfers who have downed a few large Captain Morgan before setting out

When I first started laying went on a par 3 with my son 12, he sliced his shot miles right and I sent him to go and find it. I teed off and sliced it and it him square in the chest and took him off his feet... I thought I had killed him a trip to casualty no broken ribs etc but a perfect RAF roundel.. still to this day 5 years on I panic if players / walkers are in front of me..

I got hit by a drive from Jarmo Sandelin at the English Open at Forest of Arden years ago.

I think it's the 11th hole - teebox is by the road in and you play uphill past the 10th green

The caddys had given their Boys their drivers and were all standing around the trees on the rightas the players walked to the teebox
I was with the caddys but behind the ropes and about 50 yards on.
Jarmo got a bit of fade and it started to home in on me.
I had it in my sights all the way, I'd shifted a yard or two and the ball was going to go past on my right..
then it pitched, took a wicked kick and thumped me squarely in the chest.
It then bounced away and finished up smack behind a tree.
His caddy came up, asked if I was ok, gave me a couple of balls and advised me to move on quick as Jarmo was already in a bad mood and wouldn't be overly chuffed with where his ball was......

Don't remember even getting a bruise from it.

Did you not advise his caddy to go take a big flying ......................... at himself and his boss?

I was hit last week for the first and hopefully last time. Caught me bang on the ankle I honestly thought it was broken as it had swollen to something resembling a melon within seconds. It was fine to walk on a few mins later and swelling has almost gone.

No sympathy from hid either....

I'll tell you what hurts more than a minor ball strike, climbing out of a bunker after a crap shot, going to knock the sand off with your wedge, missing and cracking yourself full on the inner ankle bone with the leading edge.

I was hit on the leg and it hurt like hell leaving a big lump. I soon discovered that it could have been worse. It turned out it hit the shaft of my driver I was holding and deflected on to my leg. It snapped the driver in two.

Good luck today mate with both the game and your safety that place is lethal, I faced more incoming golf balls there than I did in form of tracer fire in Iraq.
