It is certainly the peaty and medicinal taste I like so will give Ardbeg a try. Need to stock up the drinks cabinet so will put a bottle on the list.

Agree Laphroiag is a good drop, really didn't like the Bowmore I had. Another great Islay malt is Bunnahabhain - lovely drop.

Moving back to Speyside malts (the finest whisky let's face it) a wee gem is Cragganmore - arguably the most aromatic of the malts and a great taste too.

Mine went back in the bag yesterday and was filled with homemade Damson Gin. Lovely.

If there's ever a drop of whisky in my hip flask its a 16 year old Lagavulin.

The Islay malts will taste " similar " i.e. peaty and medicinal but they're all different if you know what I mean.

Try Ardbeg.
