less than a weeks wages not that generous considering he is so close to it

Can you not see the significance of the amount he donated ( and not the first time he has donated ) as well as the other work he has done

Rafa also donated 96K in the past as did many others.

Any donation is generous.

Have no connection to Hillsborough other than being a football fan. I have to say, in the 1980's it could have been anywhere and was a disaster waiting to happen. It could have been the old Wembley for certain as that definitely wasn't fit for purpose and I was always worried going there and there was always a crush towards kick off.

Sadly it's still a massive story and so the OP needs to become a hermit if he wants to escape it as it will dominate the news for many months to come

This whole the thread is pretty pathetic IMO. Moaning at the rememberence of the dead:o

November 11th must be a real pain in the arse for you, and this year it's 100 yrs on from that start of the First World War, all those rememberence ceremonies, they're gonna drive you mental.

Now.....the minutes silence that is held before football games...no,forget it,I won't go there.

It always amazes when people are unable to keep quiet for one min

But agree that some lives that have passed away deserve a minutes applause to celebrate their life - that has been a good introduction and drowns out the ones that can't show respect for one minute

I was at Palace v Villa today and found the whole thing quite moving. 96 poor souls did what I did today and 7 minutes into the game they died ............ I think we can spare a few moments in memory of them!

You're not at the justification stage yet, you've not stated it. I can guess what it is though.

It's a free county

Not sure why anyone would have a problem with a minutes silence for Nov - millions sacrificed their lives to allow us to live In freedom and they deserve to be remembered respectfully

I know this post may upset some people, but I am absolutely sick to the back teeth of of all this Hillsbrough crap.
Matches kicking off today at 3.07. Then 96 seats left vacant at wembley, for heavens sake just let it lie.
Whilst I sympathise with those who lost relatives in this tragic event I am just so so sick of keep hearing Hillsbrough, Hillsbrough.
There wasn't this much or any fuss made over the Bradford fire disaster.
Agreed

Can't see the point of this thread at all. Unless it's a wind up that it. Now I realise this is a forum for discussion but some topics are basically just kindling for a fire. This thread has the potential to be one of the worst yet. So much bad blood around here at the moment this doesn't help.

I just think some have different agendas Phil, we may not necessarily understand. At least some appreciate they are at odds with the majority of normal minded fellas and don't deliberately antagonise

Do you mind telling me your reasons why ?
I do not mind. Please do not be offended. He (op) is entitled to his opinion. My agreement is, due to the fact that it has had blanket coverage day after day more or less.It has never been out of the news over the years. It was a very tragic event. It will never be forgotten.I remember it happenining and feel for all those affected.

Two completely different disaster's that can no way be compared to each other.

Maybe if the truth and responsibility would've been accepted back in '89 then maybe you wouldn't have to "put up with it".

This is one of the biggest cover ups from The Establishment in history and its took all this time to get the truth whether you like it or not.

Ask any of spurs fans when they went to hillsborough to play their semi final in the early 80's, they had a very lucky escape.

With the correct policing many of those 96 would've still been alive today and going the match tomorrow.

Thanks for your reply - no offence has been caused or taken

I think - in fact believe the blanket coverages which has been pushed from the families is to try and get to the bottom of the whole disaster - things happened since and things have been said that just didn't sit well or tie in with other statements.

That day after day coverage has helped the families start to uncover the truth and start them on the road to justice - which is all they ever wanted and hopefully they will get

When that justice is finally served and the full truth found then things will die down and the event will still be remembered on Merseyside but possibly not elsewhere.

It's great for the families that so many people including other clubs and their fans have backed the campaign
