Ha ha.. they are pleasing to the eye aren't they?

I remember when I first got them, I really didn't feel like there was any less forgiveness than with the JPX800 Pros I'd been using previously. I was also surprised at how long they were, especially in the long irons..

However, before you make any decision, make sure you play a few rounds with them. My own view on forgiveness is that when you're playing well you can play with anything, it's when you have that slight off day that you really notice. That slightly toed 9 iron that falls right into the front bunker can be a destructive shot mentally, especially when you know that the same shot with a GI iron would have ended up on the front of the green.. (anyway, why listen to me? I'm trialling a combo set of MP54 / MP4's next week..)

I could hit anything of a nice dry mat at the driving range, a soggy fairway will be the best test for sure.

Preston on Saturday then Chorley on Sunday will give me a much better idea. Just need to keep the driver in check to ensure i hit at least 5 approaches from the short stuff...........(over both days)

After a little advice.

Currently of 19 but have been playing pretty well in the off season and I am very confident of getting down to 15 next year (shot a few 82 and 83s recently)

Currently I play rocketbladez tour irons with KBS Reg shafts.

I like these clubs, but do feel the "whippy" sensation when hitting 8 iron or lower.

I am prone (on bad days)to hit the ball very high, not ballooning but much higher than I would like.

I have a fairly decent swing speed of around 89 mph with a 7 iron and though I hit fairly decent distances, I feel that I am losing Length from height

Was thinking about selling my irons and going for a stiffer shaft. Not saying this will cure the height issues but will be more stable with my SS?

The daft thing is I have an itch to scratch

Been looking at some lovely Cobra S3 pro irons (combo set of MB and CB) and I really would like to indulge.

I'm not intimidated by hitting players type clubs and have always loved that soft buttery feel when hit correctly.

I know these will be less forgiving than what I currently have without question, but part of me wants to get used to swinging a club like this to help me become a better ball striker.

Worst case scenario I don't get on with them.

I can just go back to a larger cavity backed iron.

Surely just by using a club like this and continuing practicing regularly (like I currently do) will be beneficial in the long run?

Shafts will be the big thing with your flight issues..Try True Temper DG's..old school, bit heavier, low trajectory, more control = happy days...

Another range session tonight.

This time i left my old clubs in the boot.

Got to say im really surprised how well i was hitting the amps. out of 60 balls i duffed about 5 shots. The rest we lovely high draws that seemed to be consistent distance wise for each club

Struggled a little with the 4i (not my favorite club in any set) but when caught well it shot of the face.

The shafts feel very right for me. I could almost feel the torque build and carry through the shot with a very satisfying dull thud. Feel much more powerful than the TM's

Possibly i am swinging better as i am conscious that these are not clubs you can just trash at the ball and get away with it. However i dont see that as a bad thing.

Cant wait till the weekend now.

Give them a try that itch ain't gonna go! I have the S3 pro's which I use at the range to improve my ball striking and really enjoy using them, the long irons in the cb are surprisingly easy to get along with and the short irons offer all the feedback you need without being overly harsh. Lots of good deals on them as well as they don't get much publicity so make the most of it:thup:
