Help with fitting details and where.

Hey all,
I wanted to ask a quick question.
I have been playing on and off for 35 years and have a set of clubs of a similar age, I want to get something a bit more up to date but I’m aware that my swing speed, height, etc will help determine what length of club I need, the lie angle and shaft stiffness.
I have been trying to find somewhere that would help me analyse my swing and recommend the clubs specifics I need to purchase but no-one seems to offer this service unless I intend to buy a brand new set of clubs even if I am prepared to pay for the advise.
Am I asking for the impossible? Do you know of somewhere in the south east where I might be able to book a fitting and take the specs away to then purchase something second hand?
I’d be grateful for your advice if you have time?

I’m going for a fitting in 3wks at Stockport GC and the fitting is free they say if I purchase clubs off them . I’ve been in and spoke to the Pro and told him I want to pay for the fitting as I will be buying this years model but 2nd hand . Just want my specs

Yeah, I’ve been told the same but when I ask if I’d take away my specs they said they would give me some, not all or at another place they refused the booking as I didn’t intend buying there!

I’m going trying Mizuno’s. If he doesn’t give me Model , shaft , flex & lie he won’t be getting paid .. I have a good relationship with this Pro even though I’m a member at another club . Go for lessons there. Just remembered he gave me advice on wedges once, I wanted a 54 & 60 . He had me using the Mizuno shaft optimizer, gave me advise on shaft , bounce and loft all for free .

If you fancy Titleist, it's £25 for an hour, with specs emailed. If you buy, they knock off the £25.

Just search schedule a Titleist fitting near me and the options of where will appear, but there will be somewhere close to you for sure.

If you are looking at a multi manufacturer fitting, I'd expect to pay a fee.

Which is what I said earlier - has to be a location close to you - these guys are all over the UK and use golf clubs and driving ranges.

If you are paying for the fitting, make sure you end up with the following information:

- Length (so whether you'd need +/- or standard length shaft)
- Lie angle
- Swing speed in Driver and 7 iron
- Angle of attack with driver and recommended driver loft number

That way, you can make informed decisions if you want to shop yourself instead of being beholden to the fitter to sell you clubs

You don't really need them to give you the specs away, just make sure you know what they are during the fitting and remember them. You should only really need to remember the shaft, length and like angle. Just casually ask if they're not volunteering the information.....you don't need to give anything away as to whether you're intending buying.

I understand what you're saying, but don't really agree with this. An accurate swing speed number, and angle of attack with driver can both really help you. Especially now with AI tools. I know a lot of my stats, and when buying a second hand driver I put in details into Gemini (Google) in the Deep research mode and asked whether my candidate driver would be a good fit. Turns out it was - barring the fact that I would prefer the shaft to be a bit shorter. For example, reviews stated that the R shaft in my new driver is great for swing speeds up to 90mph. My swing speed is between 85-90 mph. And although the shaft is very lightweight - it indeed suits my swing speed.
